82 spots left to fill before March madness begins on Thursday! Please help us fill it for a good cause! I started this March Madness squares pool to help supplement our fundraising for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. If you're interested in joining, follow the link below (if it doesn't work, you can search for pool ID #547716). If you're new to Run Your Pool, you'll need to create a profile. This is run similarly to a Super Bowl pool in that each square will be assinged a winning score number and losing score number. Ex: Final score is 74-67, winning score number is 4, losing score umber is 7. Each square ($50) will then be your numbers for the entirety of the tournament and gets you a chance at winning in all 63 games. Payout will be as follows: First Round (32 games) = $25 Second Round (16 games) = $50 Sweet 16 (8 games) = $80 Elite 8 (4 games) = $125 Final Four (2 games) = $250 Championship = $500 Total payout = $3740. The balance will be donated to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Numbers will be randomly generated after the squares are filled. I'm a little late getting this going, so apologies for that, but I think we can get it filled in time for the start of the tournament Thursday morning. Please share with anyone you think might be interested. Thank you! Payments can be sent to me via Venmo @Marc-Thompson-24. https://lnkd.in/gG4waX3Y

The players of Swedish club Kalmar AIK FK all cut their hair to show their support for captain Markus Herman, who has been diagnosed with a serious form of cancer. 💖 💖 💖 💖 💖 💖 💖 💖 💖 💖 In a world that often feels divided, the players of Kalmar AIK FK have shown us the true meaning of unity and compassion. Their selfless act of shaving their heads in support of their captain, Markus Herman, is a powerful reminder of the human spirit's capacity for kindness and empathy. It is in moments like these that we witness the extraordinary power of human connection and the ability to uplift one another. We human do help each other always in the difficulty. So do us in the work, when we work, we need to work as a team, cooperating with each other to accomplish a variety of tasks. For World Cancer Day this year, I recruited a team of 30 people to participate in Cycle for Survival (CFS). CFS is a 4 hour relay-style bike ride dedicated to fundraising for rare cancer research & clinical trials at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City. Our team raised $11,000 in one month and brought so much energy to the event. I closed out the event with a 7 minute speech and shared the final CFS fundraising number: $31,000,000 of funding for rare cancer research. In my speech, I share my reflections on my own experiences fighting cancer, cultural stigma around talking about cancer within the South Asian community, the value of cancer community, motivating life mottos about resilience / hope that I carry with me everyday, and stories from my 4000-mile cross-country bike ride for cancer. Why rare cancer research matters? Rare cancers are poorly understood and receive little research funding. Rare cancers are those with fewer than 200,000 affected in the US, affecting 1 in 5 people, but put together they account for half of all cancer diagnoses. Rare cancer patients often have few to no treatment options and no clear body of knowledge/guidance on how to treat the disease. As individual diagnoses, these diseases don’t affect enough of the population to make it as attractive for funding. Pharmaceutical and biotech companies do not devote significant research dollars to them. #CancerAdvocacy #HealthAdvocate #CommunityHealth #StoryTelling

Cancer is a disease that affects everyone. But not everyone gets the care they need. In the lead-up to #WorldCancerDay on 4th Feb, the 10GM staff team is getting active and taking on the #CloseTheCareGap challenge of running, cycling, and walking 5k each. What a beautiful day to begin! The challenge aims to draw attention to the fact that cancer care inequalities exist worldwide. This Video Chronicles My Decisive New Approach To Pancreatic Cancer Next month I will be living with Pancreatic cancer for 4-years. To get to this point, I have endured a Distal Pancreatectomy in October 23, 2020, which removed 40% of my Pancreas, my entire Spleen, 8 lymph nodes; 6-months of the chemotherapy Gemsar from January - June 2021; 1- year on the blood thinner Eliquis to rid blood clots in both lungs (due to chemo and the cancer); had 33-months with "no detectable cancer"; had an Ablation of a small tumor in the left upper segment of my liver in June 2023; and recently had an Ablation of a small recurrence of the liver tumor and a Cryoablation of a new small metastatic tumor in my Abdominal wall in May 2024. In all that time, I thought I could co-exist with any remaining cancer cells that might be swimming around in my blood stream. I referred to it as "My Journey with Pancreatic Cancer," "My Battle with Pancreatic Cancer." The 17-day trip I recently made to my home in Santa Fe surprisingly gave my Spirit the opportunity to present a TOTALLY NEW SHIFT IN MY THINKING. In the quiet, in the beauty of this town of magnificent high desert splendor and magical skies, steeped in a history of being established in the 1600's, the wisdom of my own spirit and the voices of the prior generations were called forth. The trauma, FEAR, and confusion of the last 4 -years in the medical establishment in Los Angeles were swept away and, clear as a bell, I heard this message: "YOU MUST WAGE A WAR AGAINST ANY REMAINING CANCER CELLS IN YOUR BODY and CLAIM YOUR DIVINE RIGHT TO A LONG HEALTHY LIFE!" I hope you will listen closely to this video. It may change your own relationship with cancer and how you approach it. Very moving talk about the importance of “failing forwards” with integrity, and aligning our actions with our goals and experiences that drive us.
Had the privilege of hearing Chaunté Lowe speak at #CASSpring about her remarkable journey to becoming an Olympian. Along the way, she faced numerous obstacles, including a battle with breast cancer. Chaunté made four Olympic Games appearances despite these challenges and earned multiple championship medals! 🎖️ One of the most valuable takeaways from the event was the importance of setting ambitious goals that stretch us beyond our comfort zones. We can achieve even greater heights and continue growing by embracing setbacks as learning opportunities. Chaunté’s life and career are truly fascinating. She achieved significant success, yet resilience played a crucial role in her journey. Her powerful quote resonates deeply: ‘Resilience is like a muscle—it’s a choice, and it must be exercised every day.’ This mindset allows us to bounce back from adversity and keep moving forward. Thank you, Chaunte Lowe, OLY, for sharing your inspiring story and empowering us all to overcome whatever challenges life throws our way! #Dedication #Empowerment #EzraPenland
