Good information to know
Do you think about medication half-lives in practice when treating your patients? A half-life is the time it takes for the amount of a drug in your body to reduce by half. The half life of a drug can vary from person to person. Sometimes its helpful to think about half lives of SSRIs in particular to help select medications or know how to cross taper a patient from one medication to another. For example, patients who aren’t the best at remembering to take their medications consistently, you might not want to consider paroxetine or fluvoxamine which have a pretty short half life - if that patient forgets their medication after a day, they’ll start noticing the withdrawal effects pretty quickly.

Cold and flu season is upon us, so it's no surprise that a Peek member was recently diagnosed with the flu. As part of his treatment regimen, his provider prescribed Tamiflu. Before leaving his doctor’s office, he compared his prescription cost options using Peek. By doing so he was able to ask his doctor to send his prescription to the cheaper pharmacy. When the member arrived at the pharmacy the pharmacist told him his insurance price was $60, even more expensive than the highest cash price. Luckily, because he used Peek, the member saved $34. Your organization can start seeing significant cost-savings on their drug spend immediately when members use Peek Prescription Marketplace.
