VFACTS New Car Sales Data from April has landed! 🏆 Here are some headlines: ⭐ Toyota Rav 4 (5,857 sales) was the top selling vehicle, usurping the Ford Ranger (5,569 sales). The Toyota Hilux occupied 3rd spot on the podium with 4,693 sales. ⭐ Overall sales (97,202) were 18.3% up on April last year, setting a new April record and seeing year-to-date sales tick over 400k, representing 14.4% growth on prior YTD. ⭐ In YTD sales, Toyota (+24,062), Ford (+7,145) and Nissan (+5,764) have been 2024's biggest winners, while Mercedes-Benz (-2,209), Mazda (-1,181) and Volvo head the list of declines. ⭐ In percentage terms, Chery (+488%) and Alfa Romeo (+114%) have more than doubled their YTD sales while Jeep (-40%) and RAM (-39%) have seen sales dip in 2024. With whispers of farewell, it seems that the countdown has begun to bring down the curtain on one of the off-road icons, the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392, which is the only model of its kind equipped with a V8 engine from the factory. A leaked document showed that the end of production of this category of Jeep is looming on the horizon, with hints of launching a final version under the name “final version.” Although Jeep has not officially announced the future 392 Rubicon or confirmed the authenticity of the document, its predecessors from the brands owned by the Stellantis Group have provided final examples of other desirable models. For example, we witnessed how the Ram 1500 TRX bid farewell to the market, and Dodge produced a series of final, limited editions of the Challenger and Charger models under the “Last Call” umbrella. It appears that Jeep may follow the same methodology. V8 engines will leave the Jeep lineup by the time the final version appears, as the Grand Cherokee, Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer models will no longer be available with more than six cylinders. Many replacement parts companies offer kits that make it easier to install a V8 engine in a Wrangler, making it possible for hobbyists who want to assemble a 392-like SUV to achieve their goal. As for the challenge set by Jeep, car dealers in several regions must sell more new Wranglers in January 2024 compared to January 2023 sales. #Anis_Maaouia

Apologies a bit of a rant to express frustration and disappointment. So, with the looming rebuild of the wife's current car and not wanting to drive one of the trucks or race cars to work and back, I finally talked the wife into going back and looking at cars. Needless to say, she likes sport coupes. EXTREMELY disappointed with Chevrolet. We went to two different dealerships with very similar results. Confirming what I kind of already knew, but like many, did not want to believe it. Chevy has a big fat NOTHING! Zero, Zilch, Zip, NADA to offer in a sport coupe not even a 4 door sedan. All they have now is portly SUV/CUV/EUV looking things and Trucks. Oh and the Corvette. When I asked the salesmen at each dealership "Do you have anything used?" I was greeted with a "What do you mean?" Surprised, I clarified and said "You know, Camaro, Corvette, even other brands Challenger, Mustang" they both actually laughed and immediately tried to steer us to a staggering $168,000 Corvette!! I asked both of them "Is an entry level or mid level price available as that seems quite high" they both answered "No, that's pretty much the going rate" - this was from two different dealers! VERY disappointed with you and shame on you Chevrolet for alienating a large portion of your loyal customer base. Looks like I will not be buying anything new along with looking at other brands. Sad, sad times if you're a loyal GM customer and an automotive enthusiast.
