German optics and medical technology leader ZEISS Group has announced a substantial #investment of INR 2,500 Crore in a new #manufacturingplant in Bengaluru, #Karnataka. This strategic expansion aims to significantly boost the company’s production capacity for #spectacleglasses, aligning with their goal of achieving an estimated turnover of INR 5,000 Crore by 2027. The new #facility will dramatically increase the production of spectacle blanks from 30,000 to 200,000 units per day and prescription #lenses from 10,000 to 60,000 units per day. This AI-driven solution supports health prevention campaigns, enhances patient consultations, and reduces administrative burdens for healthcare professionals. It operates within the U1st 'health pop-up' using Eviden’s BullSequana server and IBM’s Watsonx GenAI platform, ensuring a sovereign and responsible AI approach.  ➡ Universal Data Platform (UDP) 📊: Our UDP is a real-time, interoperable data exchange platform that connects sensors and monitors throughout the city. It collects and analyzes data on air quality, pollutant levels, weather conditions, and traffic patterns. At VivaTech, in collaboration with Kanopymed and Dassault Systèmes we are demonstrating how our UDP can identify 'medical deserts' and help authorities prioritize the allocation of health resources, such as, for example, the "U1st" 'health pop-up' revealed today on the stand. ➡ Smart & Secure Traffic Management System🚦: Eviden’s Intelligent Transport System (ITS) optimizes traffic flow, enhances road safety, and improves transportation efficiency. This system integrates real-time traffic monitoring, intelligent signaling, and data-driven decision-making, contributing to a more sustainable urban mobility experience. We are incredibly proud to be involved in this project and assist with our expertise to improve urban planning, and access to public health by bringing services closer to the citizen. Technology Hardware | Hoya - Warren Lau EUV turning around sharply Following a slowdown over multiple quarters, we believe Hoya’s EUV business is likely to see a material uplift from 1Q25E onward. We expect revenue to top 30-40% to reach an all-time high of ¥65-70bn in FY25E driven by a recovery in demand, a richer product mix, new customer wins and favorable FX, though offset by some share shifts and possibly ASP erosion for mature production. This compares to ¥50bn EUV revenue, down 3% YoY in FY24 – the first annual drop since the company started EUV commercialization in FY18. Given the superior profitability, we expect EUV blank to recapture its position as the most important profit contributor for Hoya in FY25E, probably at the expense of eyeglasses, which have been providing much support to group earnings in the last couple of years during the slowdown in the IT business.
