Mental health advocates, allies and community members come together each September for Suicide Prevention Month. Thanks to those who joined us at East Forest Park Library for the start of National Breastfeeding Month – a month dedicated to promoting breastfeeding. Breastfeeding provides many health benefits for infants and mothers, but it also can be difficult to manage in our fast-paced world. Many new moms need support and information when learning about nutrition and breastfeeding. Caring Health Center offers WIC services at three locations. For more information, call (413) 693-1029.

National Health Center Week, August 4-10, celebrates – and seeks to increase awareness of – America’s 1,400 community health centers. National Health Center Week offers us an opportunity to salute the dedication of the staff at Caring Health Center, as well as its board members and supporters, who make it possible for CHC to provide affordable, research-based and quality healthcare services.

Ultraviolet radiation (UV) from the sun is the chief cause of most skin cancers. To reduce the risk of skin cancer, apply a water-resistant sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher, stay in the shade and wear sun-protective clothing. 

National Minority Mental Health Month is observed in July. Minority populations are less likely to receive a diagnosis of a behavioral health issue and less likely to have access to the proper care. National Childhood Obesity Week, July 4 to 10, warns us of the health risk faced by more than 14 million youngsters. Goals toward combating obesity include drawing out meal plans and exercise routines. Caring Health Center offers both Wellness and Pediatric Health services to address diet and exercise.
