This #SkilledTradesDay we're highlighting our partnership with Metallica's Foundation, All Within My Hands Foundation (Metallica). With the support of our For The Love of Labor grant program, Metallica scholars like Dijon are able to get the training they need to find fulfilling careers in the skilled trades and provide for their families. Dijon Holmes got his start in the construction industry after taking a short-term training class at Valencia College back in 2016. This year, Dijon returned to Valencia’s Accelerated Skills Training program to study welding. And thanks to Valencia’s partnership with Metallica’s Foundation, All Within My Hands, Dijon’s dream of becoming a welder is near. He’s now completing the college’s five-month Welding 2 program and is looking forward to blazing a new trail. “I value the sense of security that welders have,” says Dijon. “You never have to worry about a job.” He also wants to provide for his two-year-old daughter. “For her sake, I want to be financially secure.”
