CareerVillage and Coach feature in this thoughtful article by Sara Herschander in The Chronicle of Philanthropy on the use of AI in the nonprofit sector: "Yet for A.I. advocates like Jared Chung, the investments and care required to constantly debug and monitor for biases of A.I. systems are worth the possibilities they present. He argues that while it’s important to be thoughtful and cautious about the use of A.I., ultimately the decision should be driven by the needs and preferences of the people nonprofits serve. In CareerVillage’s case, the positive feedback from students and the impact that Coach is having on their career prospects makes the investment in A.I. worthwhile, he says." It's a dramatic headline, and I think true that not everyone is convinced. But in our experience AI has been a game-changer. You don't have to use it to help your beneficiaries, but if you haven't already I think you owe it to your beneficiaries to at least talk to them about your ideas for how you can use AI to help them. And then let them guide you.

We saw a lot of landscapes about AI – but none about AI-powered nonprofits. So, we created one. By making sense of what’s happening in the world of AI-powered nonprofits, we aim to inspire more innovators toward AI for humanity. Kevin Barenblat spoke with Sara Herschander from The Chronicle of Philanthropy about it 👉 “When it comes to finding solutions to issues like homelessness, educational inequity, or climate change, ‘there may be a way that tech can help, and within that, maybe AI is a part of it. But for nonprofits, it needs to stay impact first.’” Read how AI-powered nonprofits like Koko, CareerVillage.org, and Playlab AI leverage #AI to improve the lives of millions of people. 🌎

Nonprofits using A.I. ..... I think any industry using A.I. makes those of us from a certain generation think of that famous quote from the terminator, "I'll be back" I think the rule for anything is 1)moderation and 2)There is no replacement form human instinct and human contact. I personally have found value in using AI as a tool, not as a machine. If you have not yet read "Robots Make Bad Fundraisers" by Steven Shattuck, I encourage you to. But it also has the potential to scale solutions in ways we’ve never seen before. By supporting the good actors — the AI-powered nonprofit builders who are in a unique position to spearhead social impact with AI — we can meaningfully address the big problems we face across education, health, climate and more.” AI must be an active force for positive change.
