How do you see your role evolving over the next year or two? “As a former KAM, I see myself as a newcomer within the operations. I have however good knowledge of our organization and a strong commercial background which is helpful in my new position. I aim to bring more attention to the market needs within operations. Everything we do is to fulfill our customers’ needs. We have therefore to be efficient and always focused on the market. I also see my role as a new connection with our operational entities throughout Europe for further corporation in the future.” What projects or initiatives do you have coming up? “I’m looking forward to supporting our organization in the development of further international projects we’re working on. I see a lot of potential with our production from Switzerland to use further routes as alternative to the traditional German line over the Rhine Valley. Furthermore, I see some potential in increasing our productivity, mostly affected by external factors. We’re currently highly impacted by poor infrastructure conditions over the Rhine-Alpine corridor, increasing construction works and corresponding deviations. Therefore our drivers need new line skills which leads to massive adjustments and investments from the planning to the operational level and at the end lots of nonproductive shifts. Moreover, the market is developing in a new direction. Customers are therefore not able to engage themselves with fix volumes over one year anymore. That new situation doesn’t fit anymore with our production concept we have been using for decades, and we need to become much more agile to be able to develop in a sustainable way, together with all our involved partners.” #BorderlessSwissQuality

Do you feel seen and valued in your company? Leaders often feel pressured with KPIs, KPOs and performance, so they sometimes put aside the ‘human side’ of management. However, we should always have 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐞. After decades in management roles, I’ve noticed at least 6 areas that 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 typically 𝙙𝙤𝙣’𝙩 𝗱𝗼 𝘄𝗲𝗹𝗹: 1️⃣ 𝗟𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗻 to understand other’s perspective 2️⃣ Have an 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗻-𝗱𝗼𝗼𝗿 communication 3️⃣ Build trust and 𝗮𝘃𝗼𝗶𝗱 𝗺𝗶𝗰𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 4️⃣ Practice 𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 5️⃣ 𝗦𝗲𝗹𝗳-𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁 and admit mistakes 6️⃣ Appreciate and 𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺 I admit that my management style has its challenges. She has suffered many personal adversities over the past few years. Despite that, she always has that smiling, helpful, and kind face when you need one. She treats our customers and partners in the same way. Martina is one of Uponor’s employee contributors to the company’s reputation of having fantastic customer support. I’ve known Péter for 12 years since he was a sales manager. He was my ‘right hand’ at the time, and together, we built Uponor’s brand in Hungary and increased sales turnover by five times. Péter’s diligence, drive, and desire to learn and improve are second to none, so both partners and colleagues greatly appreciate him. Povilas Sadaunykas has been the Baltics Manager for just over five months, yet his significant impact is already felt throughout the organization. In his recent interview, he shares key insights on driving success and leadership in the Baltic offices. Povilas highlights the differences between Lithuanian and Nordic work styles, emphasizing the importance of balancing efficiency and thoroughness: 💡 “Lithuanians tend to be rather strict, aiming to complete tasks quickly and at a high level. In contrast, the Nordic approach is generally more relaxed and analytical, taking time to consider all aspects before making decisions.” Successful management requires not only understanding your employees but also prioritizing the client. As Povilas says, "Ultimately, everything we do is for the client," reflecting on the unification of the Baltic operations. “The unification is crucial because our clients are also moving in this direction. They prefer working with a single company across multiple countries. For example, a client expanding from Latvia to Lithuania wants to work with the same company in both countries.
