There is a great moment in this interview between Anna Sale and Olna Guralnik. https://lnkd.in/gvFnvvwF Anna asks Olna, a psychoanalyst, how she decides to open a session, by asking questions or by letting the patient steer. Anna briefly references the word "control" to refer to how the rest of the interview might go. Olna answers beautifully. The parallels to learning are direct. Sometimes, the learner needs you to tell them where to go. But that is seldom. More often than not, with some gentle probing and questioning...sometimes just letting silence hang... they will often tell you what needs to come next. And that is empowering and engaging. #learningexperiencedesign #adultlearningtheory #experientiallearning #growth #discomfort

Starting a journey of self-directed learning can be as exciting as it is terrifying. If you’re planning on embarking on this journey in the new year, it's important to recognise and overcome the following common roadblocks - whether you're learning a new subject for professional or personal development: With so many courses and resources to choose from, it's easy to become overwhelmed. Begin with targeted research. Reduce your options to 3-4 courses or resources that are relevant to your objectives. In contrast to traditional learning environments, self-directed learning lacks a clear roadmap. Set structured milestones and checklists for yourself to counteract this. Finding time and mental space for learning while juggling life's demands necessitates strategic planning. Make time for learning and stick to it like you would an important appointment. Don't get bogged down in the details of analysis paralysis. Sometimes doing is the best way to learn. Accept a hands-on approach to learning and apply what you've learned. Keep in mind that self-directed learning is a marathon and not a sprint. Pacing yourself, staying focused, and enjoying the journey of personal and professional growth are all important. #SelfLearning #ProfessionalDevelopment #LifelongLearning #Leadership

Learning Management, Content Creation, Quality Assurance, Instructional Design and eLearning Development
Although feedback is vital in online learning, excessive feedback can be counterproductive. Overloading learners with information can lead to confusion and overwhelm, hindering effective learning. Constant corrective feedback might lower self-confidence and motivation, and create dependency on external validation. This could also decrease engagement, as learners might feel micromanaged. Additionally, focusing too much on the quantity of feedback can detract from its quality, making it less impactful. Balancing the amount and quality of feedback is essential to ensure it aids, rather than hinders, the learning process. What do you think? #OnlineLearning #Feedback #Education #Elearning"
