There are numerous challenges people with IDD face when it comes to common events such as voting. Despite these obstacles, allies can support the IDD community in reducing these types of barriers. CDNY care managers promote choice and the chance to vote, by providing information about voting options, support on early ballot opportunities, and assisting members with transportation options on voting day. Join us this Disability Voting Rights Week in advocating for everyone to have a voice in the upcoming election. #DisabilityVotingRightsWeek #DisabilityVotingRights #YourVoiceMatters #IDDHealth #IDD #EmpoweringIDD #CareDesignNY #NYIDD #IDDAdvocates

Great efforts have been made by the Election Commission to make voting inclusive for all, especially for persons with disabilities (PwD). Provisions like ramps, volunteers, and assistive devices have been made to help PwD cast their vote. But many PwD are not taking full advantage of this facility due to lack of awareness. Let's work together to raise awareness and encourage greater participation from persons with disabilities in the upcoming elections. Every voice matters! Share this message to spread the word and encourage everyone to exercise their right to vote. #raiseawarenessvote #inclusivedemocracy #everyvoiceheard #voteyourfuture #makeadifferencevote #empowerallvoters #equitabledemocracy #nabmeerut

Ok now look at reverse side of it and JUST IMAGINE, WHAT IF ALL THESE YEARS IT WAS TOLD "IMANE IS A WOMEN" AND HAS "NO PLACE AMONG MEN"? AND NOW WHEN ITS RIGHTLY SO, WE ARE HERE QUESTIONING AGAIN? WHAT WOULD ONE SAY IF A STRONG #INDIAHARYANAWOMEN IS THERE? Will such questions make her man? I will like to use this situation to sensitize with the plight of 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞𝐝 & 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐔𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐠𝐠𝐥𝐞, Neglect, Marginalization & Misunderstanding & misnamed throughout their life by almost everyone either OPENLY OR COVERTLY FROM NEIGHBORHOOD TO SCHOOL TO UNIVERSITY TO WORLD OF OFFICE. But the day they themselves agree align & comes forward & says , "Yes, I am disabled," seeking understanding & acceptance, asking for their equal space in society, but instead of support, they're met with: '' You don't have to be disabled to be part of it'' "if disabled, why are you here" " Disabled have no special right.( but yes we can ill-treat you for sure)" Let's confront the uncomfortable truth: we must acknowledge the struggles of disabled individuals before we decide how to treat them. Calling someone 'disabled' to demean them is not the same as calling them 'normal' when they seek support. Let's choose empathy and respect. - Many are not given education, jobs, deserved promotions on name of disability. - Many are not given equal CTCs at offices or perks or fringe benefits even govt offers #AccessibleIndia #SugamBharat. When one gets ill & bed ridden & shares post about it, just imagine those who are having struggle daily from listening, speaking, seeing, walking, lifting & on top of it mentally cursed by people around openly or covertly. Others can imagine the trouble of disabled, so please do not ill treat at least.
