WINNING MONDAY! As a Chain Sales Consultant for GALLO, securing placements for our brands is a key part of the role, and today was a big win! Last week, I visited one of my Walmart accounts with my trainer, Taylor Fields. We met the retailer for the first time, planning to pitch four of our brands (Apothic, Barefoot, Andre, and Rumchata). But instead, the conversation was about his very specific expectations for wine vendors when it comes to pitching. He shared with us that not a single sales rep had ever come back to pitch after hearing his requirements. I told him confidently, "I’ll be the first." I loved the challenge he gave me and was determined to overcome it with confidence. Today, I went back and successfully pitched all four brands myself! After closing the deal, the retailer congratulated me for being the first vendor to come back and successfully pitch him. By focusing on the features and benefits of each product and sharing proof of their success in nearby accounts, I gained his trust and got the win. I can't wait to build these cases out in October, November, and December. What does “high end” even mean?🤓 This weekend I had the honour of attending an F1 screening event in Melrose Arch hosted by Patron. Stay with me, these details matter. From my observation the event was cementing a narrative that positions Patron as a high end tequila, not only in price point but in brand value. The question becomes; in a country with the nuances & complexities that South Africa has; Is a customer who buys “high end” alcohol someone who lives a “high end” lifestyle? If not, how do we as marketers find ways to communicate this to our colleagues abroad In order to execute highly effective, sales driven marketing? Loblaws, Canadian company, largest Canadian food retailer, even owns Real Canadian Liquorstore, and Zehrs, hmmm didn't know that. Empire Company Limited, parent company of Sobeys, Safeway and Freshco, second largest food retailer in Canada. Metro Inc., third largest food retailer in Canada. Walmart Canada, fourth largest. Costco Wholesale Canada, fifth largest. Walmart and Costco, originated in the States. The Canadian only retailers have signed on, Loblaws has "signed" but with conditions, contingent on all signing. Walmart and Costco have not, good luck getting them to agree. Keep barking chihuahua, nobody cares about the BS Grocery Code of Conduct you're trying to get signed. Doesn't mean grocery prices will come down, it's just like an alliance between the top five. Stakeholders may benefit, not consumers.
