Highly experienced bus industry Managing Director I busreinvented.com I The bus has a bigger future than a past ! Time to be bold and to shine !
Quite a comprehensive, but succinct, explanation that cars, whether electric, diesel or petrol powered, are an acute social, health and economic problem which needs to be addressed. Cars kill over 700 children a day SUV's are 8 times more likely than traditional cars to kill children There are a litany of reasons why we need to detox from the car culture and embrace active travel and mass transit.

Check out this great report from Carbon Tracker about #EV adoption in emerging economies. 🚌 🛵 🛺 🚗🔋 The following quote was particularly compelling to us: "For the #leapfrog to BEVs to occur and for the Global South to benefit from the transition to zero emission mobility, first there needs to be a policy environment conducive to enable widespread adoption of BEVs. Policy actions include an emissions policy to phase out ICE vehicle sales..." #emobilityrevolution #emobility #evbatteries #evadoption #emergingmarkets

New rule: no talking about decarbonizing transportation in the global South if you don't talk about shared and collective mobility -including informal/popular transportation, and you don't talk about two- and three-wheelers. This is so Global North myopic. An absolutely autocentric report. Not a single mention of public transportation. There were only two mentions of motorcycles and one mention of buses (all on the same page.) No mention of car ownership numbers versus shared/collective ridership. Who's carbon are they tracking?

Electric vehicles (EVs) have always fallen short of being a true solution. They adversely affect nearly every one of the sustainable development goals #SDGs. This is yet another undeniable proof. They perpetuate existing inequalities hindering mobility justice efforts at local, national, and international levels. https://lnkd.in/evZgKT2C

Wow... When is it too much actually enough? This report shows many things, but some of the most concerning are: - The amount of energy used to produce all the vehicles sitting at the plants, and the environmental effects of this carbon footprint. - The amount of resources consumed globally to produce them which may seem like a good thing in the supply chain, but in the end are contributing to the erosion of earth's resources in general. - The evident focus of factories towards over-production, instead of responsible production, and the lack of regulation on the matter. - And we can probably find some other ones...

- People driving cars kill 700 children a day. - They kill 1.7 million people a year, or 1 of every 34 deaths. - There are no car "accidents": Transit infrastructure is expected to deliver this result and reliably does, year after year. The harms cars and motor-vehicle infrastructure are so great that a researcher in Edinburgh took 2.5 years to enumerate them in one place. My story (free for a week): #cars #ev #environment #climatechange #transportation #mobility #safety #infrastructure #environment #cities https://lnkd.in/dTMtWeuu
