This is my brother Morgan. At 22, he landed his dream job as a risk analyst. 9 months later, I convinced him to quit and start a business with me. Here’s the story (+ why it was the best decision he ever made): 🗓️ 2021: At 21, all Morgan wanted was to work in finance. 6 years at uni. 2 degrees. 2 internships. Straight out of uni, he landed his dream job as an analyst. Tidy wage. Nice title. He’d “made it”. 🗓️ 2022: An opportunity lands on my lap. This could change my life. But I don’t want to do this alone. I pick up the phone. ”Morgs, want to start an agency?” He’s in. Quits his job that week. Crazy, we have our own company. 🗓️ 2023: 8 clients in 14 days. Then another 20 followed. We hire out a team, but how do we train & manage them? Lots of responsibility. Little knowledge of how to run a business. We needed help and we needed it quickly. We lean into our network, their advice changes everything. 🗓️ 2024: Everything clicks. Global clients. 6-figure contracts. But we want to become a household name. We double down on our story. Upgrade our offers. Team of 13. 40+ clients. Maybe we have something here? 🗓️ 2025: We’ll have to wait and see. Our goals? - First £1M/year. - A very happy team. - Lot’s more global clients. —— From economic analyst to story-driven marketer. When I convinced Morgan to quit I could have cost him his career. Today, I think it’s safe to say he made the right choice. Lesson: Risks can be scary. But you only ever regret not taking them. P.S. I’m grateful he took the risk with me now.

Unlocking Potential: The Transformative Power of Internships First Citizens currently has an internship open in our Hendersonville market. https://lnkd.in/epcysiSv You may be asking yourself, what are the benefits of an internship? In today's fast-paced world, the bridge between academic learning and real-world application is more crucial than ever. Internships stand out as a key component in this transition, offering invaluable opportunities for aspiring professionals to gain hands-on experience, develop skills, and navigate the path to their future careers. Why are internships so vital? Practical Experience: Interns apply classroom knowledge in real-world scenarios, gaining insights that textbooks alone cannot provide. Skill Development: Beyond technical skills, internships foster soft skills such as communication, teamwork, and problem-solving. Networking: Internships open doors to professional connections that can offer guidance, mentorship, and opportunities in future endeavors. Career Clarity: Experiencing a field first-hand allows interns to make informed decisions about their career paths, often igniting passions they were previously unaware of. Employability: With experience under their belt, interns stand out in the job market, demonstrating to potential employers their readiness and dedication to their profession. Let's champion the creation and support of internship programs, recognizing them not just as a rite of passage, but as a cornerstone in building the next generation of leaders, innovators, and professionals. #Internships #CareerDevelopment #SkillBuilding #Networking #FutureOfWork

Hey, #Finance and #Banking professionals! Do you feel like you are falling behind in your career? I have always felt behind in my life. I was never good enough. It started when my parents made me skip a year of school... I could read at 5, so they sent me to school a year early. But I was the youngest in my class...the oldest was 1.5 years older! Fast forward 18 years, and I was fresh out of uni...and yet feeling behind! Behind the perfect financial professional that I made up in my head. He would have joined the best bank and learned everything ASAP. He knew exactly what he wanted from his career, unlike me! My banking internship didn't go well, so I felt even worse. I had to change careers! That terrible feeling that I was NOT GOOD ENOUGH continued for years... Even when I moved to London and worked for a FTSE 100 company! While working in Corporate Finance, I compared myself to others and I would never measure up! Then 1 day, everything changed. A health problem changed my perspective. My doctor told me that I had to slow down... My blood test results were terrible! Also, I was suffering from severe ANXIETY. That resulted from overworking myself to "make up" for the time lost. In my head, it made perfect sense!? I wanted to be at the top and needed to work hard! My physical and mental health disagreed. These events made me realize 3 things: 𝟭. 𝗖𝗔𝗥𝗘𝗘𝗥𝗦 𝗔𝗥𝗘 𝗕𝗨𝗜𝗟𝗧 𝗜𝗡 𝗗𝗘𝗖𝗔𝗗𝗘𝗦 𝗡𝗢𝗧 𝗠𝗢𝗡𝗧𝗛𝗦 The age to become successful is getting lower and lower. Let's be honest. It takes time to build careers! I used my career to make up for the fact that I felt worthless... That's why I had to do more. So I could be worth more! 𝟮. 𝗠𝗬 𝗟𝗜𝗙𝗘 𝗜𝗦 𝗡𝗢𝗧 𝗠𝗬 𝗖𝗔𝗥𝗘𝗘𝗥 There is much more in life than work. I know that in Finance, we live to work. But for me, it's NOT worth it. I compromised my health for my job. Do you want to make the same mistake? 𝟯. 𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗥𝗘 𝗜𝗦 𝗧𝗜𝗠𝗘 Most likely, we will be working until we are 70 years old... There is more than enough time to have a "SUCCESSFUL" career! I know that competition is the name of the game in Finance.
