The results of the survey were interesting and show there are clear advantages for employers. 87% of businesses paying this higher rate reported that it has improved their brand reputation. Two-thirds of businesses reported that it had both differentiated them from their competitors and it had improved employee recruitment. Interesting news from TotalJobs’ latest Hiring Trends Index – enhancing staff retention and engagement is the top priority for businesses in 2024. The report, based on a survey of over 1,000 HR Decision Makers in the UK, cites the allure of higher salaries elsewhere as the primary cause behind staff resignations in the final quarter of 2023. So, what can businesses do to keep their best employees from leaving? One part of the solution is to communicate openly and honestly about salaries, market rates and how your business makes decisions on them. Not only does this build trust between management and staff, but it also helps to dispel any misconceptions before they become an issue. #staffretention #employeeretention #hr #business #salary #employeeengagement

Pay secrecy and pay transparency are always interesting topics to discuss in the classroom! I always like to remind my students that company pay secrecy policies (although fairly common) are generally illegal under the NLRA! You have the right to discuss aspects of the workplace, including pay, with your co-workers (as long as you are not revealing anyone's pay but your own). So, if a company asks you to sign a pay secrecy policy (that you won't discuss your pay with anyone else at work), you may just give them a hint that those policies are unenforceable and it would be illegal to fire someone for violating it. I think there has been a shift towards greater pay transparency in recent years, which I see as a good thing. What do you think about pay secrecy or transparency?
In today's competitive job market, pay transparency is more crucial than ever. Recent data reveals that 4 in 10 job candidates will lose interest in a position if the salary range isn't listed in the job description. As employee expectations continue to rise and new laws are enacted, it becomes increasingly clear that transparent salary offerings not only help attract top talent but also play a vital role in retaining them. Embracing pay transparency can lead to a more engaged and satisfied workforce, ultimately benefiting your organization in the long run. Do you think salaries should be included in all job postings? According to a VML study, 62% of Gen Z want salary transparency from their employers and will be looking for this. 😊 In a time when Gen Zs are taking over the most of the jobs, we, as HR professionals and managers of companies, should take seriously what employees from Gen Z need and want from their employers. And salary transparency will not be just a legal requirement, but a must if you want the best employees to remain in your team. #hr #hrstrategy #performance #tranparency #salary #motivation #genz

In a survey by jobs website, 29% of firms said staff retention was their top focus for the new year, overtaking the need to fill vacancies. To keep employees happy, almost half of the 1,000 human resources staff surveyed said that they would review pay and benefits, as well as training and opportunities for flexible working. Julius Probst, European labour market economist said "Workers are continuing to demand pay increases in line with inflation, so prioritising wage reviews is crucial for businesses looking to successfully retain talent and keep employees engaged," #StaffRetention #NewYearFocus #EmployeeSatisfaction #HRStrategies #PayandBenefitsReview #TrainingOpportunities #FlexibleWorking #WorkplaceEngagement #TalentRetention #WageReviews, #InflationAdjustments #HumanResourcesSurvey #JobSatisfaction #EmployeeEngagement
