🌞 Feeling the sunshine and the possibilities—ready for my next move? After 14 wild and wonderful years at VML (formerly Wunderman Thompson, and previously Mirum), where I led some of the most brilliant Creative, XD, and CX/DCX teams as Chief Experience Design Officer, my time with the company has wrapped up. From starting out as a digital copywriter to leading CX and digital projects across Canada, the U.S., and even Japan, it’s been one heck of a ride. I’ve pitched, won business, championed diverse perspectives, and picked up some pretty cool stories along the way! A big, big thank you to everyone who’s been part of my journey—your allyship, mentorship, and friendship have meant everything. You’ve all made this ride something special. Being part of the less than 1% of Asian women in the C-suite in North America has been both a challenge and a thrill. Navigating the advertising and marketing world as a woman of colour has taught me so much—and pushed me to grow in ways I never imagined. Here are some lessons I’ve picked up along the way: -Never volunteer to take notes—take up space instead. -Have the same audacity others take for granted. -Don’t wait for a savior—save yourself. -Find your people and stick with them—together, you’re unstoppable. -Discomfort never goes away—it means you’re pushing on barriers that need breaking. As I step onto this bright new path, I’m ready to bring my creative expertise to fresh opportunities.
