Breaking Breast Imaging News Alert: The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) has updated its breast cancer screening guidelines. Now, women at average risk are advised to begin biennial mammography screenings at age 40, instead of the previous starting age of 50. However, an accompanying editorial in JAMA OncologyWendie Berg, MD, PhD, of the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, pointed out that USPSTF guidelines do not apply to women at high risk for breast cancer, and noted that regular risk assessment should commence at age 25 years to identify the high-risk who should start annual MRI screening. https://lnkd.in/eEmu4BNu

Now the change to Biennial mammography, tells us that there are inherited risks that should be explained to the patients. Is the individual absorbing x amount of radiation? and is this metered for the person’s record? Why is it so difficult to offer alternative such as thermography to observe if asymmetry is present. Here’s a question, if the breast lymphatic system is a opened system versus blood’s closed system, than the breast cellular waste is escaping via the axilla. With thermography one can analyze if between the breast and axilla there exists a restriction(s), not so with a mammogram and the . Filter .5,1.0,1.5 focus is solely on the breast so not to damage other organs. One other point, if the breast tissue has accumulated a mixture of heavy metal contaminants the mammograms reflect off the metal salts trapped in the breast tissue, similar to shining a flashlight onto a mirror.
