Having transparent and independent oversight and accountability mechanisms in all places of detention is key and strengthens human rights protections for those in the most vulnerable circumstances. This is why we continue to call on Canada to ratify the United Nations’ Optional Protocol to the Convention against Torture and Other Forms of Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment. 🔹 Read more about this in our UPR submission ➡️https://bit.ly/46LUCXS 🔹 Read more about this in our recent remarks to Federal, Provincial and Territorial Ministers Responsible for Human Rights ➡️https://bit.ly/3PUWo35
