In the realm of truth is stranger than fiction, the recent guilty plea by Kaitlyn Braun, 24, highlights a deeply unsettling scenario within the Ontario doula community. 👀 • 21 out of 52 charges – a number as staggering as the deception itself. • Psychological trauma coupled with financial strain paints a picture not just of personal loss but of breached professional trust. • Doulas, providing support at one of life's most intimate moments, now face the aftermath of duplicity. The manipulation of trust within such a nurturing profession showcases the diverse challenges doulas face, extending beyond the delivery room. 🚼 One must ponder the long-term impact on the doula community and its clientele. 🔮 My prediction? This incident could spur: - Stricter verification processes within the industry - Increased solidarity and support among health professionals - Enhanced awareness around occupational risks for doulas The necessity of healing and rebuilding cannot be understated. The professional bonds among doulas may strengthen in the wake of this deception, perhaps leading to a more resilient community. 💪 Remember, no profession is immune to exploitation, but every community has the capacity for resilience and transformation. If you've faced challenges that required rebuilding trust in your professional network, I’d love to hear your story. Let's connect and discuss on LinkedIn or reach out at insidercondos.com. 🙏 #OntarioDoulas #TrustInProfession #HealingCommunity #FraudPrevention #ProfessionalSolidarity #PsychologicalTrauma #FinancialLoss #Resilience #RebuildingTrust #HealthcareCommunity #DoulasOfLinkedIn

It's World Down Syndrome Day. Around 1 in 800 babies will be born with Down Syndrome. Down syndrome, or Trisomy 21, is a condition in which the person has an extra chromosome. This condition occurs without reason, and there are no known causes. World Down Syndrome Day exists to highlight the inequity faced by those with Down syndrome. • They are often denied a quality education • They are denied appropriate healthcare • They are denied a chance to integrate and participate in societal norms, such as working • They are often not able to advocate or participate in their healthcare decision #worlddownsyndromeday #inclusion #uncurablediease #geneticdisorder Source: About WDSD. THIS is storytelling at its finest! The commercial I've just seen is a masterclass in challenging preconceptions and advocating for empowerment across the board. While it specifically celebrates the achievements and potential of individuals with Down syndrome, its message resonates universally: everyone deserves the chance to prove their capabilities and pursue their goals without the weight of stereotypes holding them back. Empowerment is a universal principle that should be applied to all individuals, regardless of their background or perceived limitations. It's about recognizing the value and potential in every person and creating environments that nurture, rather than hinder, their growth and success. Moving away from a victim mentality and a culture of entitlement is crucial for societal progress. When we shift our focus to what people can do, rather than what they cannot, we create a culture that values contribution, resilience, and determination. This isn't just beneficial for individuals—it's transformative for society as a whole. In celebrating the triumphs of one community, we are reminded of a larger truth: with the right support and opportunities, everyone has something remarkable to offer. Let's not confine anyone to low expectations or predefined narratives. Instead, let's champion a world where the default is to #AssumethatICan, no matter who you are. The initiative behind this commercial may have started within the Down syndrome community, but its ripple effect extends far and wide. Let's all work to break down barriers, challenge the status quo, and encourage one another to reach for the stars. Because when we remove the restraints and believe in each other's potential, that's when true breakthroughs happen. Bravo to the creators of this campaign, and may its message inspire action and change across all corners of society. #breakthestigma #empowerment #universalpotential

🔥Since we launched our petition earlier today it has been gathering significant momentum - thank you to everyone who has signed and shared the petition so far! 🙌 📢 𝗪𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝗨𝗽! Young people are grappling with significant mental health problems in Northern Ireland. Our community has long struggled with the stark reality that less than 8% of the overall budget for mental health provision is allocated to children and young people’s mental health services, resulting in limited access to essential mental health support. We urge all MLA's to take immediate action by: 1. Advocating for increased funding: We urge all MLA's to champion the cause of our children and young people by pushing for and delivering a substantial increase in funding for children and young people’s mental health services. 2. Raise Awareness: We ask that all MLA's use their influence and position to shed light on the inadequate funding allocated to children and young people’s mental health services, emphasising the need to prioritise and protect children and young people’s mental health. Securing funding for the successful implementation of the Mental Health Strategy should be among the top priorities for the new Executive, considering the disappointingly slow progress made to date, we urge everyone to support our call and sign this petition. "The lives and experiences of almost 2,600 of those living with chronic pain were examined as part of this year's National Pain Survey. Two-thirds of respondents reported their pain affected their relationships with family, with 60 per cent reporting reduced intimacy or struggling to have sex and 40 per cent struggling to pick up or play with their children. Nearly half of survey respondents had to stop working because of their pain, while almost 30 per cent had to limit their hours." Chronic Pain Australia is advocating for improved access to multidisciplinary care for people living with chronic pain. Similarly, CCA continues to advocate for greater access to, and continuity of care, involving multidisciplinary teams for people living with IBD. You can read the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) article about the survey below. https://lnkd.in/gJ_VWC5E
