Stepping up the beat: Dancing conquered on HackTheBox! I just grabbed the flag on Dancing, the next level up in HackTheBox's Starting Point track. This one definitely wasn't a waltz – it was a full-on tango filled with twists and turns! Dancing challenged me to: Think beyond the obvious: Initial scans didn't scream vulnerabilities, but perseverance (and a little help from some HTB forums) led me to the right door. Embrace the power of enumeration: SMB was the key, but figuring out its configuration and exploiting its weaknesses took some creative thinking. Channel my inner detective: Cracking codes and piecing together clues like a digital Sherlock was super satisfying! Sure, Dancing might be "Starting Point," but it definitely pushed me past my comfort zone and taught me some valuable lessons about persistence and resourcefulness. It's that day of the month again when supporting artists generates even more (real) revenue for them... At 08:00 UK-time the 40th Bandcamp Friday goes live. You'll still pay the same, but the platform itself takes no cut, waiving its revenue share. Bandcamp hosts independent (DIY) artists, as well as labels. I support Bandcamp. Founded in 2008, it's based on taking a revenue share of sales. Their share is 15% on digital items, and 10% on physical goods. Payment processor fees are separate and vary depending on the size of the transaction, but for an average size purchase, amount to an additional 4-7%. The remainder, usually 80-85%, goes directly to the artist or their label, and they pay out daily. Bandcamp Fridays began in March of 2020 at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, when the shuttering of venues led to a loss of vital tour revenue for artists.
