If you've been around our community for a little while and have tried to sign up for an Art Workshop, you may have noticed just how quickly spots fill up! Well, Cactus Cancer Society has a critical update for you! Our Art Workshops are filling up faster than ever, sometimes within minutes. We have a growing waitlist of young adults who are being turned away from the programs they want to join. We know you agree – placing young adults facing the darkest, loneliest days of their lives on the waitlist simply isn’t good enough. We are urgently seeking help funding additional Art Workshops. Before the close of our fiscal year at midnight on June 30th, we need to reach our $8,250 goal. It’s no small ask, but we need to provide 165 additional spaces to meet the increased demand for our Art Workshops in support of young adults as they navigate cancer. Cactus Cancer Society’s workshops foster connection, relieve isolation, and will always be FREE to young adults experiencing a cancer diagnosis. Time is running out! I don't ask of others for much. It's just not how I am built. However, there are times when getting the message out to gain as much support as possible is worth the ask. This is one of those times. If you've never heard of Hogs for the Cause, it is a two-day BBQ charity festival in New Orleans, LA, raising money to support families with children battling brain cancer. Pediatric Brain Cancer. Awful, terrible disease. Those afflicted with cancer struggle mightily. Yet, cancer is not isolated to the individual as it greatly affects those closest to the person, in this case, the child. No, this is not a personal story meant to tug at your emotional strings. This is not about me. This post is for children and families struggling with pediatric brain cancer. Our team, Swinel Richie -- yes, the team owner is a Lionel Richie super fan -- is one of nearly 100 teams that compete each year, with each team responsible for raising as much as they can.
