Thanks to all who joined us to kick off Prepare the Town: Brownsville! Our volunteers were in full force to help teach people about hands-only CPR, how to get a free smoke alarm through our Home Fire Campaign, and what steps you can take to be ready for disasters. Our preparedness team will be in the Brownsville community throughout the month of July to help people get ready for emergencies, such as home fires, before they happen. If you are interested in hosting an event, visit https://lnkd.in/ehAxrE3u to see the programs we offer and how to contact us. Special thanks to State Senator Roxanne Persaud for joining us at the Van Dyke Community Center, to New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) and CAMBA for hosting us, and to New York City Fire Department, New York City Emergency Management Department, and NYC Department for the Aging for their partnership in helping prepare Brownsville for emergencies.

  • A CPR training session is in progress at Van Dyke Community Center, with participants practicing on mannequins spread out on mats on the floor, observed by a Red Cross instructor.
  • Two Red Cross volunteers presenting fire safety tips in a community room with a projected slide titled "Reduzca el riesgo de incendio en su hogar".
  • Group of eight individuals, including firefighters and Red Cross volunteers, standing beside a red banner in a gymnasium. The banner reads "PREPARE THE TOWN" with a silhouette of city buildings and the American Red Cross logo.
  • Group of several dozen people in Red Cross attire standing in front of a red banner that says "Prepare the Town" in white text.
