Anyone else looking at FAFSA filing trends among students from lower income households? These students are our focus at the Washington Student Achievement Council (WSAC) where we are fortunate to manage the country's most generous need-based financial aid program. Over the past three years, the rate of increase of FAFSA filings by students on FRPL has gone up significantly faster than other students. This trend follows the landmark legislation that made the WA Grant an entitlement, increased eligibility limits and added $500 on top of tuition and fees at public colleges and universities. I believe that word of mouth and shared experiences drives social change -- maybe we're reaching that inflection point in Washington state. #highered #financialaid #college #equityineducation

Transform 90 SAT Points into $80K in Financial Aid Just a small bump in SAT scores could mean a $20,000 bump in free aid each year. That's a whopping $80,000 over 4 years. Let me break this out. This is based on families that I've worked with and went to Ursinus. Very high price tag, and out of all that comes down to the final net cost here, that little difference of 90 points in the SAT equates to $80,000 at that small liberal arts, very well known, especially for prelaw and premed students.
