Hillcats, if you haven't submitted your 2024-25 FAFSA for this fall it's not too late. The FAFSA is the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. It helps you get the most financial aid possible, helping you earn your degree affordably at RSU. Just visit studentaid.gov/fafsa and use RSU's school code 003168. Note that the current 2024-25 FAFSA applies to the fall 2024 and the remainder of this academic year. Millions of potential college students are being impacted by the FAFSA change. By now, we should have all our Financial Aid information back so that we can make arrangements and estimates on costs for each college. 🎓 Less than half the usual number of high-school students have applied for college financial aid this year, reports Oyin Adedoyin from The Wall Street Journal. The revamped FAFSA process, aimed at streamlining applications, has hit bumps causing delays and technical glitches. As a result, colleges won't receive application data until much later, impacting financial aid package timelines. An unknown author once wrote, "true bonding happens when we are all mad about the same thing." This morning, many financial aid administrators, enrollment administrators, students, parents, college access professionals, school counselors, etc. are all frustrated with the FAFSA debacle and other outstanding aid issues. But let's channel our collective anger into constructive action that leads to positive change. The time is coming where all we'll be able to do is put our heads down and work. And we will. The profession is strong and full of noble people. In that work, let's find innovation, creativity, and solidarity.
