🌍Let’s focus on social sustainability in the wine sector in 2024! "Development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs." - World Commission on Environment and Development 👉 While environmental and economic sustainability often take centre stage, the importance of social sustainability is sometimes overlooked. According to the United Nations Global Compact, social sustainability involves identifying and managing business impacts on people, emphasizing the quality of relationships with stakeholders. In the wine sector, recognising the broader impact on employees, value chain workers, customers, and local communities is pivotal. 📢This awareness led to the creation of the Wine in Moderation programme, a testament to the commitment of the sector to social sustainability. 🍷 Our vision for a sustainable culture of wine exemplifies this commitment, highlighting the sector's dedication to caring for customers and the business in all aspects of sustainability. Climate change is one of the most pressing challenges facing the wine industry, and it's our goal to be a net zero industry by 2050. The recently launched New Zealand Wine Roadmap to Net Zero 2050 will play a crucial role in presenting tools and opportunities to help winegrowers mitigate those challenges. It outlines milestones and identifies key emission-reduction opportunities applicable across vineyards and wineries to help us reach our net zero goal. Here's some of our sustainability champions on this important project: Edwin Massey - General Manager Sustainability, New Zealand Winegrowers Fabian Yukich - Chair, New Zealand Winegrowers Environment Committee Peter Jones - Director, The Landing Josh Barclay - Sustainability Manager, Whitehaven Wine Meagan Littlejohn - Programme Manager, Sustainable Winegrowing New Zealand (SWNZ) Read the Roadmap here: https://bit.ly/3T9Dmqa #nzwine #altogetherunique

🌟 Fixing Public Meals – Achieving Sustainability by 2027 🌟 Many of the solutions to the world's greatest challenges are already within our reach. One such solution is making all public meals in Norway sustainable by 2027 through strategic public procurement, specifically by defining "sustainable food" in contracts. Although this approach is both proven and simple to implement, it hasn't yet gained the traction it deserves. Join us for a 90-minute Community Vetting session where you'll collaborate in small groups to define this problem, evaluate the solution, and devise strategies for impactful change. If the community supports the solution, we will also discuss its role in driving this transformation. Our guide will be Ove Kenneth Nodland, an unconventional lawyer with a decade of experience at the intersection of innovation, sustainability, and public procurement. No expertise in food is necessary—just bring your eagerness to turn discussions into actions and be ready to engage fully. Additionally, you will enjoy a healthy and sustainable meal prepared in collaboration with our kitchen, demonstrating that sustainable choices can be both delicious and cost-effective. Important to note: This session is limited to 10 participants, and registration is binding to ensure full engagement and minimize food waste. Active participation is expected from all attendees. To reserve your spot, please email [email protected].

At Bon Appétit, sustainability is more than an initiative, it’s a throughline for us, woven into the company’s foundational way of being. It's part of everyone’s job to bring that value to life in their work. In short, sustainability is everyone's job. We believe that it takes more than one person or one siloed team in a company to truly make sustainability a core operating principle. Every year, the International Earth Day gives us the opportunity to think of the importance to protect our planet. One of the numerous actions to combat climate change, protect biodiversity, and preserve our ecosystems is the implementation of sustainable agriculture practices. Meira Oy, part of Massimo Zanetti Beverage Group, announces that all its coffee products roasted and packed in Helsinki, Finland are now Rainforest Alliance and Fair Trade certified. The Rainforest Alliance and Fair-Trade non-profit certification systems have rigorous requirements related to sustainable farming and business practices, environmental, and social responsibility, as well as good governance. These seals aim to improve the livelihoods of coffee farmers, promote human rights, prevent deforestation, and fight climate change. In the framework of a growing sustainability effort, Massimo Zanetti Beverage Group set its guidelines through the Responsible Sourcing Policy, a statement of its commitment to ethical and sustainable practices, to share its values with its suppliers and throughout its supply chain. “It’s noteworthy that we have successfully attained our 100% sourcing goal for certified green coffee. Within the framework of our sustainability program, our work continues comprehensively, emphasizing our value chain’s commitment and engagement in emission-reducing development projects. Furthermore, we are delving into a broader consideration that focuses on addressing nature impacts, ensuring the sustainable future of coffee remains a top priority” said Raimo Sinisalo, CEO of Meira. #EarthDay #RainforestAlliance #FairTrade
