NYS Growers - this initiative is extremely helpful for the industry as a whole. This data will be useful for many people and organizations throughout NYS and can help give you insights to grow your farms. One real world example I can give around how beneficial this data can be is in the future wine development space. In my world, I am striving to develop new wines for our customers. As I find grape varieties that I like, knowing how many acres are planted helps me make decisions on how many cases I can launch with and if I need to start offering planting contracts to get more acres in the ground. If that data isn't available or isn't accurate I may pass on a variety that is important to you and your farm. Please take a minute to complete the survey!
Grape growers, YOUR input can make a difference. The New York Wine & Grape Foundation wants to serve our growers better. As our industry’s primary research, promotion, and economic development entity, we need data to do that. Our Statewide Vineyard Survey is now open. The grape production data we’re collecting will give us the benchmark figures we need to compare New York winegrowing regions, within our own state and with key domestic and international winegrowing regions. And growers will have the crop data they need to make smart, strategic decisions on the future of their vineyards. Participate today: https://lnkd.in/gkFz8d3Q

𝗪𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗪𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝘐'𝘭𝘭 𝘣𝘦 𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘰 𝘮𝘺 𝘥𝘢𝘺 𝘫𝘰𝘣 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘢 𝘸𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘦 There was a vine in the garden when I moved to my current house. In 2021, we got a LOT of grapes and I made my first batch of wine. A year later, we poured all that 'wine' down the drain. I'd like to think the issue was in the grapes - but I suspect processing errors was probably the issue. This year, we got another massive harvest of grapes and so the 'Chateau Naff de Searle 2023' has been bottled! Initial taste testing suggests this may be consumable. My struggle makes me re-appreciate 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗶𝗴 𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝗼𝗼𝗱 & 𝗕𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆 - taking an agricultural product (of several) with all its natural variations and producing a consistent quality product consumers to enjoy. Thankfully, most CP firms have better quality, technical teams and process control than Chateau Naff de Searle. #consumer #consumerproducts #wine #makingvinegar

In contrast to wine grapes, there is very little diversity in raisin grapes in California. 81% of the raisin vineyard area is planted with Thompson Seedless; another 12% with Fiesta and 5% with Selma Pete.

Our sailors are way more than just crewmembers - they are true ambassadors of the products we transport. For several of our products, they connect with the producers, learn about the farming methods and understand the details of production. While our Tres Hombres Rum pages on social media offer many insights about our rum (its origins, unique qualities, shipping process, various editions, etc.), we don’t often talk about the other products we ship. As Captain Arthur says, we don’t talk that much about the wine. The main reason? When it comes to the wine, we are usually just the transporters. However, we don’t ship just any wine, we ship natural wine for our Danish partners and it is definitely worth talking more about it. That’s why we invite you to read Captain’s Arthur latest blog now available on our website, called “The Wine Run”. https://lnkd.in/eyQP2GZe Let us know what you think about it in the comments and let’s exchange! #Fairtransport #TresHombres #SustainableShipping #WineTransport #Wine #NaturalWine

The burden of late summer glut processing. One of the hugely time consuming activities that the modern food system does for us. What to do with the accidental grape harvest? Pretty sure wine is not an option. 😂 Grape jelly? Vinegar? #foodsystems #foodsystemstransformation #growyourownfood #land #grapes #harvestseason

The global wine industry faces a surplus as economic challenges and changing consumer tastes disrupt traditional markets. Tony Townsend, an Australian grape-grower, illustrates this trend by removing vines due to economic inviability. Rising costs and a shift towards lower-alcohol wines exacerbate the problem, prompting farmers to diversify crops or leave the industry. Government initiatives offer limited relief, highlighting the industry's struggle to adapt. Without significant changes, many growers may face uncertain futures. #Wine #WineIndustry #Growth #LifeStyle #Innovation #Transformation I Bloomberg I Keira Wright I Celia Bergin I Ilena Peng
