In the world of recruitment, structure is almost always the number one challenge that consultants face day to day. 🔨😕 Where do I start? Candidates? Clients? Who? Why? What? How? When? So, to get 2024 kickstarted, my team & I had our first structure meeting of 2024. 💭 We explored where we felt most 'unstructured' and from that we identified where we could make better use of our time. 🔎 Using 'sticky' Post it notes meant that the structure could be fluid and changed if it needed to (thanks for saving us blue tac). Our team structure looks great for now...👍 But it is always a work in progress, as what works for some, may not work for all. Kalmar Group just closed its seventh search in 20 weeks (and hopefully #8 by Friday). Those numbers are not that good for an established recruiting firm, but keep in mind we launched from scratch in January. Hoping this time next year, it will be 20 searches in 20 weeks. A few learnings from the first five months of a boot-strapped recruiting firm. 1. Partnerships. Working with great leaders who run great companies is everything. 2. The people business is unpredictable. Assume the best and zoom out whenever something doesn't go "as planned"... what ever does by the way (?) 3. Find people who are where you want to be. What Nik F. and Harris Fanaroff have built is inspiring. They are not in recruiting, but I'm trying to follow their playbook in a lot of ways. 4. Long-term mindset is everything. Just keep moving. Appreciate the support and love so far and if you know of any business owners who are in need of critical leadership hires, but don't have an internal recruitment team, let us know!
