All qualified organizations seeking to become adult day services providers, as well as existing adult day services providers seeking to expand their services, are eligible to apply for the available grant funds, which are being offered by the Ohio Office of Budget and Management (OBM) at the direction of ODA. Successful applicants will be eligible to spend their funding in multiple areas. New adult day services providers or those re-entering the market can use these funds for equipment, supplies, start-up fees, or infrastructure modifications required for initial operations. Existing adult day services providers can use these funds to enhance service delivery by adding new benefits not previously offered. They can also use the funds to support long-term sustainment in the industry. This could include equipment or facility upgrades to accommodate a larger capacity served, as well as technology implementation and other efficiency efforts. Providers can also use funds to recruit and retain a qualified workforce – including through means such as offering current staff a retention bonus, offering new staff a hiring bonus, hiring new direct care workers, and recruiting new direct care workers. Interested organizations can apply through the OBM website. Successful applicants will be eligible for technical assistance support, provided by LeadingAge Ohio in collaboration with ODA. For more information, visit aging.ohio.gov/adultday 😊💙❤️💜💚

The VOCA Allocations for Ohio's 2024-2025 grant cycle have been released, and the numbers will mean even leaner services for victims and survivors of crime in our state. From years 2023-2024 to 2024-2025, Ohio will experience losses of 43%--compounding prior cuts of 60% or more since 2018. We are exploring options for Ohio, but in the meantime are releasing a toolkit today as your program seeks to diversify funding: https://lnkd.in/gvHTcYbx

"To move forward, our focus should be on how to achieve equality and justice for future generations where the country has failed in the past." In Fortune, Business for Good's Ed Mitzen discusses why the recent court ruling dismissing the case of the Tulsa Massacre survivors should be a wake-up call for leaders to prioritize equality and justice for the future, and where to start in the local community. #BusinessforGood #TSEClientwork Read the full piece 👇 : https://lnkd.in/eAYF-Kxj

"Oftentimes, we do incremental things that actually disrupt our ability to be able to get to justice. And we say, well, since justice is so far out, or justice isn’t possible, then it doesn’t matter, we just need to take this win in the near term. And that can’t happen anymore. We have to be able to orient our day-to-day work, even if it’s small, on a path to justice, and make those hard choices in this near term that sometimes we have to make in order to adhere to that principle of justice and not take the easy win. Or, if we do take the easy win, acknowledge what we’ve done, because now we’ve created another thing that has to be undone." For three years, hundreds of people in Texas and Illinois got payments of $1,000 a month, no strings attached. That extra, reliable cushion allowed recipients to stop living paycheck to paycheck, get better paying jobs, go back to school...or simply enjoy their lives more. CSSP knows the importance of cash assistance, whether in the form of a stimulus check, enhanced unemployment benefits, or the Child Tax Credit. Unrestricted cash benefits allow families to meet a wide range of needs in ways that make the most sense for them. When made inclusive and accessible, cash assistance can also effectively advance racial equity. We are watching this happen to many organizations trying to do the work in supporting a more equitable society. Now, funds are limited because the status quo wants to remain in power. These programs work and this work is necessary. This is not new, society works in patterns and now our work becomes even more important. Ultimately, grantmakers and funders, we see what society you want to really maintain. "Leaders of the racial justice movement know that the nation faces a formidable array of threats from a right-wing backlash that relies on censorship and authoritarianism. Instead of spending their energy, money, and time on unneccesary compliance, foundations can support the many campaigns, strategy sessions, research projects, and other work that will lead to true justice and eliminate the racist and exclusionary narratives that threaten democracy. At this pivotal moment in history, conceding is not an option." https://lnkd.in/g9e2qAY8
