We have previously provided studies demonstrating the connection between abandoned properties/blight and crime, specifically gun violence. Now a year after the most recent report, City of Philadelphia is implementing a pilot program that appears to be taking direct measures to simultaneously address both aspects. In a recent press release, Deputy Inspector General Adam Geer advocates for utilizing crime scenes as a guide for prioritizing blight cleanup efforts and expanding the cleanup to include the surrounding areas, that are contributing factors to the violence. #localgovernment #blight #vacant #localgov #zombieproperties #munireg #zombieforeclosures #abandonedproperties #vpr #vpro #codeenforcement #foreclosure #urbanplanning #citymanagement #codeviolations #vacantpropertyregistration #municipalities #nuisanceproperties #vadproperties #communitydevelopment #blightfight #communityengagement American Association of Code Enforcement ICMA - International City/County Management Association Center for Community Progress https://lnkd.in/ejk9bMgn

🔍 Understanding the Shifts in Violence 🔍 In the whirlwind of violence peaks in 2020 and 2021 and the current decline, one constant remains—the rate of non-firearm homicides. This stability underscores a critical point: gun violence is the driving force behind the surges in homicides. As gun violence decreases, public safety improves. The takeaway is clear: to ensure safer communities, we must prioritize a focused approach on reducing gun violence. This requires targeted police interventions alongside proactive prevention through strong community partnerships. 👉 Read the full article here: https://bit.ly/4cUfKx5 #PublicSafety #GunViolencePrevention #CommunityPartnerships #CriminalJustice #PolicyFocus

PRISONS ARE THE NEW SLAVE PLANTATIONS (BUT YOU PROBABLY ALREADY KNEW THAT) For anyone who ever says "If I was living back in the slave days, I would burn it down/revolt/fight/support efforts to change things...," well, now's your chance because these ARE the slave days. So, please tell me in the comments what you are doing about it so that we can work together. At L.O.V.E. Is The Answer, we are doing something about it by teaching, making meaningful media like the film WALKING WHILE BLACK: L.O.V.E. Is The Answer (https://lnkd.in/gzy9V2X), advocating and pushing for legislation, policies, and practices to change -- and more! The 13th Amendment to the United States Constitution includes this: "Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction." In other words, if they can find a way to lock you up, SURPRISE, NOW YOU'RE A SLAVE! Hickman’s Family Farms, McDonald’s, Target and Albertsons are among some of the many corporations that use SLAVE LABOR. From the AP article: "Prison labor began during slavery and exploded as incarceration rates soared, disproportionately affecting people of color. As laws have steadily changed to make it easier for private companies to tap into the swelling captive workforce, it has grown into a multibillion-dollar industry that operates with little oversight. Laws in some states spell it out clearly: Prisoners aren’t classified as employees, whether they’re working inside correctional facilities or for outside businesses through prison contracts or work-release programs. That can exclude them from workers’ compensation benefits, along with state and federal laws that set minimum standards for health and safety on the job. It’s almost impossible to know how many incarcerated workers are hurt or killed each year, partly because they often don’t report injuries, fearing retaliation or losing privileges like contact with their families." US prisoners are being assigned dangerous jobs. But what happens if they are hurt or killed?

There was a Time when Minneapolis faught hard to bounce back from terms like “Murder-Apolis” recognizing the problem wasn’t the guns and that people who aren’t allowed to own them still end up getting them. Over time however #Minneapolis has shifted closer to a Chicago type of law, where taking the rights away from citizens is the answer to fixing the community. Less money in the court systems so lawyers are experienced and more money simply removing peoples rights so that we have to build around the government stonewalling progress. This type of government intervention is seen throughout the Midwest from Wisconsin to Chicago. Highest prison rate per capita belongs to Wisconsin with a staggering number of prisons, and chicagos gun deaths continue despite harsh gun laws. Maybe granting freedom to your citizens to defend themselves was the right idea and social policies I.e. #housing, #education, #healthcare, #food, Arent rights, they’re things citizens fight hard for, and work hard for, not to be abused to the masses. #Reform #GunLaws #ConstituionalRights #CivilRights #TimWaltz #Minnesota #Chicago #Wisconsin #Midwest
