📌Technical PE Interview Questions Accounting, equity value and enterprise value, valuation/DCF, merger models, and LBO models – all subjects covered in investment banking interviews too. That’s great news if you’re in banking – you should be able to recite these topics in your sleep! If you’re not in banking – we recommend learning now, as without these, no job offer is possible. So, how do these questions differ from IB interviews? 🔹Technical questions are typically linked to your deal experience. For instance, instead of a generic question about the WACC formula, they might inquire about its calculation in a specific deal. 🔹A higher level of critical thinking will be needed. Instead of walking through financial statements when Depreciation changes, they might present scenarios with different business models and ask about the resulting financial statements and valuation variances. 🔹Emphasis is placed on LBO models, rapid IRR calculations, and your ability to assess deals efficiently. ⚠️ Most importantly, remember that having this technical knowledge does not guarantee you a job offer. But not knowing this – guarantees no offers at all. #CainMann #PEInterview #Interviewtips #Investmentbanks #Technicalquestions

I probably tell this to juniors who missed the grad boat trying to crack into M&A/Funds 3 times a day, so here it is: Assuming you're not valuing businesses or doing the right financial modelling (valuations, M&A, Project finance). Also assuming you got a high credit average or above at uni (if you didn't will be bit of a battle to get in). You should do this : - www.wallstreetprep.com and also do the project finance module in it. Then do it again. - Then do this: https://lnkd.in/gx5b-Hgy Once you've done that you should try get into: - BDO, Grant Thornton, Kroll, Pitcher Partners, Findex - Corporate Finance teams or; - Big 4 - deals modelling, valuations and KPMG/PWC have energy transition M&A teams or; - JPA Financial modelling, Modano or Mazars (modelling team). So you have the courses, then you're doing ground up M&A/PF models. From there the doors really start to open up. Best of luck.

Interviews can be nerve-wracking, especially when navigating complex financial terms. But fear not! 🙅🏻♀️ We've crafted a cheat sheet to help you easily ace your fund accounting interview. 📊 Fund: Think of a fund as a financial pool where investors contribute money. A fund manager then invests the e-money across various assets like, bonds, equities, derivatives, collaterals etc to grow investors' wealth or provide income. 💰 Bond: Bonds are issued by governments or corporations to raise funds for projects. When you buy a bond, you're essentially lending money to the issuer, who promises to pay back the principal plus interest on a specified date. 📈 Equities: Equities are simply stocks or shares in a company. Buying stocks means owning a portion of that company, entitling you to a share of its profits through dividends. 📆 Future: Futures contracts are agreements to buy or sell things at a set price on a future date. This helps investors guess price changes and manage risk. 💹 Mark to Market (MTM): MTM is the realised gain or loss of future securities which is calculated on a daily basis to reflect their current market value, which is crucial for accurate financial accounting. 💼 NAV (Net Asset Value): NAV represents the per-share value of a mutual fund and it can be calculated daily, weekly, biweekly, monthly, or quarterly depending on the frequency. NAV = Total Net Asset/ Number of units outstanding 📈 Cap Stock Activity: This reflects changes in a fund's outstanding units due to subscriptions (buy-ins) or redemptions (sell-offs) of fund units. 📊 Benchmark: A benchmark is a reference point, usually a market index, used to evaluate a fund's performance relative to its peers. 🏢 Corporate Action: These are activities initiated by companies that impact shareholders, such as stock splits, dividends, or mergers. 🌟 Prep is Key: Memorize these terms and meanings before your interview. Before your interviews, know these basic financial terms well. They'll help you shine and feel more confident during interviews. 📚 Continuous Learning: Keep honing your financial knowledge even after the interview.
