Speaking of Urban Planning Callum Campbell, P.Eng, MBA and Nick French, CPA, I am sure that you know that if you search the Times Colonist records, Royal Bay in the City of Colwood was designed in the mid to late 1800's to be a ferry connected suburb of Township of Esquimalt and the City of Victoria BC. People have talked about a shuttle for literally decades. Hopefully, you will ask Swordfish-Energy Incorporated to put together a shore package to power your batteries with marine tidal energy, increasing your carbon credit value.
Greenline Marine Inc. is fully committed to supporting Metro Vancouver’s vision for sustainable transportation by aligning our objectives with the outcomes outlined in the Region's strategic plans. Our team is dedicated to connecting coastal communities through zero-emission transport, fostering both economic growth and environmental stewardship. Together, we aim to contribute to a cleaner, more efficient future for the region. Read our latest post on our alignment with various City Policies: https://lnkd.in/getcxXbC

Recent findings by the Washington Post underscore a pressing environmental challenge: the coastal regions of the southern United States, including cities like Miami, New Orleans, and Charleston, are increasingly vulnerable due to rising sea levels. This escalating threat highlights the urgent need for effective solutions in coastal and shoreline restoration and rehabilitation. At ABASCO, we are committed to addressing these environmental challenges with innovative solutions. Our turbidity curtains play a crucial role in supporting coastal and shoreline restoration projects. By controlling sediment displacement during rehabilitation activities, these curtains ensure that restoration efforts are effective and that natural habitats are protected from further degradation. ABASCO’s turbidity curtains are designed for durability and performance, providing a critical barrier that keeps sediment in place, enhances water quality, and supports the recovery of marine ecosystems. These systems are part of our commitment to sustainable environmental practices that help maintain the ecological balance of vulnerable coastal areas. We are dedicated to advancing technologies that contribute to the preservation and enhancement of coastlines. Since January, we’ve been fine-tuning the West Weber Project Area plan, incorporating valuable insights from our stakeholders. Located near major transport routes like Interstate 15 and Union Pacific rail facilities, this 9,000-acre area is poised for strategic development. We’ve especially focused on environmental concerns, engaging with experts and organizations such as the Department of Natural Resources. Next week, we'll present our comprehensive Wetlands Strategy, as part of our overall West Weber Project Area Plan, to our board for adoption, ensuring that every decision we make prioritizes ecological integrity. As Ben Hart, our executive director, emphasized at last Friday's Friends of Great Salt Lake - 2024 Issues Forum, "There will be those who ask, 'how many of the wetlands do you want to protect?' All of them. And if we can't protect them, we're certainly not going to enable their destruction." Let's not overlook the key role that the often ignored other Blue Carbon - freshwater and brackish wetland 'sponges' that surround mangrove tree species - are key to the Mangrove TREE resilience, as well as for their future survival...Without the MANGAL ecosystem, the mangrove trees are likely to be history. And it is surprising that after the adoption of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF), 'the fundamental contribution that ecological connectivity makes to healthy functioning ecosystems and species’ diversity and resilience, and their benefits to people', most of the world experts still focus attention on mangrove trees, rather than interconnectivity of the Mangal Social-Ecological-System.
🌿 Mangroves are the unsung heroes of our coasts! This infographic beautifully illustrates how these coastal wonders provide us with essential ecosystem services. Let's protect and preserve these vital ecosystems! 🌏 Via Sustainable Ocean Alliance Global Mangrove Alliance

🚰 Our colleagues at Rio Grande International Study Center are working on innovative water reclamation and reuse project in the works in partnership with the City of Laredo. The organization is spearheading the development of a Community Water and Energy Resource Center that could convert wastewater and food waste into reclaimed water and clean energy. Demand for water in the region is increasing as reservoirs hit record lows, and the Rio Grande's flows become a trickle. In an op-ed published in Next City, read more about how RGISC's project could transform the city's approach to water security, increasing resilience and sustainability for its residents — and why cities across Texas should embrace reuse and conservation as we face the impacts of climate change. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/eJgzJRzs

Founder: The Sustainability Circle | Building the #1 invite-only community for sustainability leaders at tsc.earth
Big win for Europe today – the EU Council has approved the Nature Restoration Law (#NRL)! Huge thanks to everyone for tipping the scales and helping us hit that qualified majority. It was a close call with 66% in favor (we needed 65%). This is a massive step forward for our environment. Sure, there were some compromises to get everyone on board, but now we have solid goals for restoring our natural spaces. This proves that the EU Green Deal is still kicking and pushing us toward a sustainable future. Let’s celebrate this victory for nature and get ready to roll up our sleeves and make these restoration goals a reality! #Sustainability #Environment #EUGreenDeal #NatureRestoration
