A young change maker ready to be part of the solutions by leveraging my thought leadership skills. ✍️ Currently enjoying reflections on sustainability, tourism, travel, product development, ESG and culture.
💡Did you know mangroves extract up to five times more carbon than forests on land, incorporating it in their leaves, branches, roots and the sediments beneath them? 📌Mangroves combat climate change through carbon sequestration as they are some of the most carbon-rich ecosystems on the planet, storing on average 1,000 tonnes of carbon per hectare in their biomass and underlying soils. The focus on marine conservation, mangrove restoration and reef restoration cannot take place without local community engagement. 🌊 As a result, I'll be joining Sustainable Travel & Tourism Africa during this year's 1st #sttabootcampseries in Shimoni, Kwale County, Kenya to get a more practical approach on how REEFolution amidst the challenges of our warming planet they engage in reef restoration, community education, and proactive science-based climate change solutions. 🎯 Looking forward to satisfying your 2024 quarter 1 wanderlust and interacting with other gypsy souls? Well, a few slots might be remaining 📩 Dominic Wanjiru https://lnkd.in/eDtmJuun #changemakers #marineconservation #mangroverestoration #reefrestoration #communityengagement

"How would we get someone to care about the world's coral reefs when it's an abstract thing they can barely understand? If they don't understand what a coral is or where it comes from, or how funny or interesting or beautiful it is, why would we expect them to care about saving them?"
