Everyone's out here talking about Trunkslammer to Trunkslayer because we wants swords and stuff, but what about strategically making your MSP services look better and more appealing. How about Trunkglamour!? TLDR; Protect yourself and provide consistency and clarity to your clients. I'm not talking about literal glitz and glam here. I don't mean having the flashiest website or snazzy logos. What I mean is orienting your #MSP practice around features that will ultimately make business easier to run and smoother for your clients. In my season 1 Scaling the Wall interviews, I've learned a number of things, but here are a few that stand out. 1️⃣ The obvious one, for me, is marketing yourself as an MSP that will help make and keep risks "Cyber Insurance Pre-Qualified." This is different from pre-approval...they aren't guaranteed a policy, but market yourself as an MSP who works with clients to continually improve their security so to ensure smooth #CyberInsurance renewals when they roll around. This is not a #passive strategy but an #active one. 2️⃣ Adhere to a framework. As Liam Degnan and Bobby Guerra have taught me, mapping your security controls to a framework will help you stay organized, keep your clients secure, and help them have a clear roadmap to improved security maturity. Just make sure you aren't a hypocrite and requiring a framework you, yourself, are not adhering to. (again, following that framework yourself will help glam you up, for SURE). 3️⃣ Set budgets. If your sales tactic is to go in, tell your client they will need to spend thousands of dollars to improve their security, invoice them, and leave, your client will always see you as a salesperson, not an advisor. Alex Farling and Marnie Stockman have been fantastic at teaching MSPs to be leaders in their industry and stand out by helping set budgets for their clients so you rarely drop some unexpected sale on a client. 4️⃣ BONUS: Get an airtight MSA. Brad Gross and I had a fantastic conversation about having the right contracts in place. Security cannot be done on a handshake with friends because when 💩 hits the fan, those "friends" will be coming to you for money...and they won't be asking. Mature friendships respect professional decisions. (I'm probably going to do a video on this later) What else can you be doing to standout in the crowded MSP Sea?
