An alternative solution to Light Rail Transit for Central Auckland 🚡 Proposed route: Auckland Airport -> Onehunga - Stops in populated areas like Mangere Town Centre, Mangere Bridge, and Onehunga - Capacity of 3,000 passengers per hour - Average journey time ~26 mins, average bus trip 44 mins, average car time ~33 mins (not including peak traffic). - Compared to Light rail the cable car could be built at a lower cost and in less time, with less disruption. Providing a rapid transit option to and from the Airport, with no variability in travel time, would be a valuable addition to Auckland's transport network.
