By volunteering, BV Trust Makers have the opportunity to make positive contributions to our communities. In France, our teams joined Banques Alimentaires to participate in a national food drive across the Île-de-France region!
This initiative was a great success, with participants collecting 800kg of food products to contribute to the cause.
Banques Alimentaires is France's leading food aid network. Its mission is to combat food insecurity and food waste. Offering innovative ways to distribute food aid, it supplies more than 850 social grocery stores throughout France and supports them in their operations and equipment supply.
As a Business to Business to Society company, we are proud to participate in initiatives that complement our efforts and commitment to Shaping a Better World.

I recently visited a local food bank. It is a food bank that picks up produce at a local grocery store.
They used to pickup meats near expiration too. They have freezers and as an under-supplied, overburdened food bank, the need is definitely present.
In the last six months the same grocery store stopped discounting meats to 50% and started only discounting them to 30%. I know for a fact this has led to greater discard of expired meat. They no longer allow the food bank to pick up near expiration meats.
People who wouldn’t be able to afford those foods in the first place, imaginary profits and losses that never existed are their “reasoning” for throwing food away instead.
People in need are not the enemy. People in need aren’t hoarding their money greedily and eagerly waiting at the donation doors.
The (potential) merger of Albertsons and Fred Meyer terrifies me. They’re already coordinating their sales to justify “see we’re competing with each other and will keep doing so if you let us merge”
What all shoppers have realized? Their prices were heavily inflated since first word of this merger to allow “sales” that don’t lose them a penny. Grocery prices are already unattainable for many and only worsening.

In the case of all social good movements - it's grassroots organizations banding together and communities supporting one another that is going to shift cultural attitudes. At Replate, we think of other nonprofit FROs as potential collaborators, not our competition! A rising tide lifts all ships!

It is always a special moment when I get to collaborate with my Partners in Food Solutions (PFS) family, and what better way than to celebrate 15 years of partnership between General Mills and PFS.
For those of you who may be unfamiliar with how PFS came to be, I encourage you to watch the video below (spoiler alert: a special group of General Mills employees had something to do with it). It is an incredible story of innovation, determination and standing for good.

We are proud to celebrate 15 years of partnership with Partners in Food Solutions, a nonprofit organization working to improve food security across Africa, which originally started at General Mills thanks to a few employees who wanted to do more to help the world. All these years later, Partners in Food Solutions has grown into a consortium of world-class companies using their greatest asset – their people – to help African entrepreneurial food companies grow and to bring more nutritious, locally sourced, and affordable food to families.

Today we are launching our manifesto ahead of the General Election, calling on the next Government to commit to delivering more surplus food to those in need.
Titled “Where’s the Food? Strengthening Communities Through Surplus Food Redistribution”, the manifesto lays out measures to incentivise businesses to redistribute more of their surplus, proposals to support the redistribution sector and strengthen communities in the process, and a plan for a wider food system reset.
We are calling for:
💚 Subsidies for farmers to cover redistribution costs
💚 Tax benefits for businesses donating surplus food
💚 Mandatory food waste reporting
💚 Clear guidelines for ‘good samaritans’ on food donation safety
💚 Sustained funding for farm level food redistribution
💚 A UK-wide plan to end charitable food aid
💚 Resources for local food waste and food security projects
By working together, government, the third sector, and industry can overcome the challenges to redistributing surplus – and ensure more food reaches the people who need it.

🌱 **Grants and Farm-to-Table: Combatting Food Deserts with Healthy Choices** 🌱
At Freddie Bell Jones, Inc., we believe that everyone deserves access to fresh, nutritious food, regardless of where they live. As food deserts continue to impact underserved communities, it's critical that we step up and support solutions that bring healthier choices closer to home.
Grants play a vital role in advancing farm-to-table initiatives that can combat food insecurity. These funds enable local farmers, nonprofits, and community organizations to develop sustainable systems that deliver fresh produce directly to those who need it most.
Through strategic grant writing and partnerships, we can build a healthier future—one that prioritizes local economies, reduces food deserts, and ensures that nutritious options are not a privilege but a right for all.
Let’s continue to advocate for food justice and expand access to farm-fresh, healthy choices in every community! 💡 #GrantFunding#FarmToTable#HealthyChoices#FoodJustice#FoodDeserts#FreddieBellJonesInc

As someone passionate about food security, I was alarmed when a national leader in food rescue said to me, “If we pay farmers, they will expect to be paid.” 🧐🤨😱
This statement highlights a critical issue in food sustainability ——->>>> the donation-based model of the charitable food system.
That's why I am teaming up with a Pennsylvania farmer to educate her colleagues on food equity for the farmer. Our workshop session title: “Food Dignity: Get Paid to Fight Hunger."
It's crucial that we recognize the value of farmers' hard work and compensate them appropriately. Only then can we ensure food security for all.

B12Give is on a mission to end food waste and food insecurity. This food would otherwise go to waste, but thanks to B12Give, it gets delivered to people in our communities who are struggling to put food on the table.
It's a win-win for everyone involved. Businesses can reduce their environmental impact and fulfill their social responsibility goals. Food banks and shelters receive valuable donations of nutritious meals. And most importantly, people in need get to enjoy delicious, healthy food.

Food Waste Prevention Week, with activities around the country, was a great success, especially for a grassroots movement. My favorite part was a series of webinars -- I have the one on community fridges queued up! I hosted one myself -- "How Vacations Can Boost Food Donations" -- and got great ideas from the audience. The more I'm in this mission, to reduce food and item waste in vacation rentals, the more I see how many people are onboard with the idea, but also how challenging it is to achieve. That never stopped me before! Onward and upward! Here's the video if you're interested! https://lnkd.in/eM2EH-8W
At FareShare North East we're supporting FareShare UK as they launch their manifesto ahead of the General Election, asking "Where's The Food?"
This is particularly relevant for us at FareShare North East as we're running out of food - even though millions of tonnes of good to eat surplus food are still going to waste in the UK
The manifesto sets out a clear plan to remove barriers to food redistribution and help us to work together with the government, industry, and the third sector to ensure we feed people first
Just as important, the manifesto also calls for a UK-wide plan to end the need for emergency food aid - it is unacceptable in a country as wealthy as the UK, nor is it a lasting solution to food insecurity

Did you know that 22.7% of New Brunswick families struggle to put food on the table? It's a staggering reality, but together, we can make a difference.
At Greener Village, our mission is clear: to provide food, clothing, and opportunities for self-sufficiency to those in need. But we're not stopping there. We're excited to unveil our game-changing solution: the Perishable Food Rescue Centre. This revolutionary project will reclaim food and revolutionize food security in Atlantic Canada. By partnering with Food Banks Canada | Banques alimentaires Canada and Food Depot Alimentaire, we'll redistribute $4M in fresh food to over 70 food-focused charities across New Brunswick.
