🎉 Why do we celebrate 1 May as an Inl’l Labour Day? Lets’ take a look 👀 : 👉🏽 The history in Int'L Labour Day takes us back to the strike in Chicago on May 1, 1886 when workers demanded an eight hour working week, among other rights, setting off intense protests, which led to police brutality, explosions, civilian deaths and ignited more demonstrations from unions and workers. This inspired socialists and labour leaders of about twenty countries to set 1 May as the Int'l Labour Day in 1889 during the 2nd Int’l Meeting in Paris (my fellow Eastern Europeans will remember this from history classes).
