"The Biden-Harris administration is aiming to reduce housing costs by reducing red tape and allowing housing types to be built under the HUD Code. This move will allow duplexes, triplexes, and four-plexes to be built under the HUD Code for the first time, extending the cost-saving benefits of manufactured housing to denser urban and suburban contexts. The National Manufactured Housing Construction and Safety Standards Act of 1974, signed into law by President Gerald R. Ford, gives the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) the authority to establish and change federal standards for manufactured homes. The ACT aims to make manufactured homes more affordable, durable, safe, and high-quality, making them more available, and establishing uniform construction standards." - manufacturedhomes.com Feel free to Read and Subscribe to my daily newsletter for the latest updates on MHC's. 👇 https://lnkd.in/eEje-Y6t #mobilehomepark #manufacturedhousing #technlogy #news #manufacturedhousingcommunities #realestate #investment #homebuyer #mobilehomeinvesting #buildcommunity #helpcommunity #investor #realestateinvestors #sustainability #affordability #housingmarketupdates #communityliving #housing #TheRealEstateSolutionist #homebuilder

ClwydAlyn has announced the restart of development work on its new affordable housing scheme on Builder Street in Llandudno. This significant milestone comes after a period of uncertainty following the collapse of the previous developer. The housing association has now partnered with St. Asaph-based K & C Construction Ltd to deliver construction works on the site. The project will feature 77 new one-, two-, three- and four-bedroom homes for rent for families as well as over-55s, in an area where there is a recognised shortfall of affordable housing. The high-quality homes will also be fit for the future, with energy-efficient features to promote sustainability. Penny Storr, Head of Development and Growth at ClwydAlyn says: "Despite the challenges posed by the change in developers, we’re pleased that we’re able to continue works to deliver much-needed affordable housing to the area. "The restart of works on this project is part of our commitment to creating homes that not only address the need for more energy-efficient and affordable housing in the region, but also positively impact the wider community. Our team have worked incredibly hard on the site, so we’re delighted that our partnership with K & C Construction has allowed us to continue." https://lnkd.in/gmyTQnnE #development #affordablehousing #affordablehomes #housingassociation #developer #partnership #familyhomes #over55s #construction #newhomes #sustainability #energyefficiency

Sweeden's approach to building new housing reveals what we and Factory OS have known for awhile — modular housing construction results in more homes for more people, faster. As we grapple with a nationwide housing shortage, we should embrace the modular housing model to accelerate housing production and bring down costs. https://lnkd.in/g4ZJrp6a

It is "missing" for a reason... because cities have regulated and zoned the product out of existence. As we look to address the housing crisis, we should be seeking to remove all barriers to critical missing middle housing. #missingmiddle #housing #housingcrisis #housingforall
this is a great write up from a builder's perspective of what a builder faces, and the costs associated, with building missing middle housing. Land surveyor working hard to facilitate smooth real estate transactions, land development projects, and large infrastructure projects in Central California and Western Nevada.
Here is a super insightful post by Shawn Milligan about building permit numbers and what they really tell us. Be careful with the data! Put it in context before you write a headline!
To say that the Bay Area had a #housing boom is a misnomer. Simply looking at the number of #buildingpermits doesn't properly tell the story. A better way to look at the data is to compare building permits using per capita data. Although San Francisco County only had 2,618 permits, it had the highest number of permits at 3.61 permits per thousand residents when compared to Contra Costa County at 2.12 (2,443) Santa Clara County at 2.23 (4,195), San Mateo County at 2.22 (1,693), and Alameda County at 3.44 (5,586). The picture is far worse when you compare building permits to other technology centers in the US... - King County (Seattle) had a population of 2.27 million and generated 10,600 building permits in 2023 or 4.67 permits per thousand. -Denver County (Denver) had a population of 717 thousand and generated 5,725 building permits in 2023 or 7.98 permits per thousand. -Travis County (Austin) had a population of 1.33 million and generated 22,414 building permits in 2023 or 16.79 permits per thousand https://lnkd.in/gGnyrYCu

👉 Change in the housing industry is not only possible – it's happening. Take a leaf out of the Fading West's book where modular construction is helping address the housing crisis in Buena Vista, Colorado. Are we looking at the future with modular homes? Share your thoughts!🔑🏘️ https://bit.ly/4bPdebD #HousingCrisis #ModularConstruction #CollaborateForChange

The US has a housing crisis - everything from affordable housing to workforce housing to the Missing Middle. Conventional construction can't seem to keep up with demand and prices still keep many out of the housing market. One Colorado company - Fading West - is taking a different approach. They are building a new generation of modern modular homes which are visually indistinguishable from conventional stick-frame construction. Their process is based on modern assembly techniques, completing a 2-bedroom home in 9 days by building inside a controlled environment which minimizes waste and eliminates weather delays. While Fading West's homes are about 20% less expensive than standard construction, that alone won't solve the problem. Perhaps combined with other innovations (such as 3D-printed homes, increased use of ADU's and other opportunities), we can put a dent in the housing crisis through cost-savings and decreased construction times. Read more about this approach from the following article posted on David Byrne's ReasonsToBeCheerful.world website: https://lnkd.in/gWVbj2zn

Interesting…how will the international building code industry be impacted and what is their involvement in the structural review process. Will the structural integrity of the manufactured homes be in compliance with the INTERNATIONAL BUILDING CODE Standards m? I would like to see more information about this affordable housing strategy.
The Biden Administration's push for zoning reforms and embracing modular housing offers a significant opportunity for the real estate and AEC industry to address the affordable housing crisis. Modular housing, touted for its cost-effectiveness and quality, stands to revolutionize construction methods. As the administration aims to streamline regulations and incentivize smaller home sizes, companies like Aro Homes and Inherent Homes are poised to thrive, catering to diverse housing needs. The implications extend beyond housing availability, impacting workforce stability, regional economies, and urban development strategies. As the industry adapts to meet evolving demands, collaboration between policymakers, developers, and manufacturers will be crucial for sustainable growth. #AffordableHousing #ZoningReform #ModularConstruction #RealEstate #AECIndustry #ConstructionTechnology
