Butler Hospital announced the grand opening of its new short-stay unit this past Monday! This state-of-the-art 25-bed unit is a transformative facility for mental health care in Rhode Island. The short-stay unit provides a safe and therapeutic environment for patients with mental health challenges. Instead of overcrowded emergency departments, patients can seek treatment here. The unit features a pod system, allowing flexibility to accommodate different patient populations. Thank you to CannonDesign and DPR Construction for making this project a success. PIH-US envisions a future where structures of oppression no longer determine the quality or length of a person's life. We know that health systems are only effective when designed to respond to the social determinants of health such as education, income, and social protections. We work alongside local public health and community leaders to achieve this by helping partners set clear health and racial equity agendas and provide technical advising and operational support to deliver on those commitments.
