Patrick provides some great insight about what makes LSI unique: "LSI has a culture where the people have a lot of autonomy. They have the flexibility to work and develop solutions in ways that best fit our client’s needs. LSI also has a culture where people care for each other and each other’s successes. For example, it’s not uncommon to see folks from leadership work in the “trenches” with project teams to backfill needs or folks voluntarily taking on additional support shifts to cover for a sick colleague. In her video, "The Mind of the Engineer," Shalene Smith provides a unique perspective on the life of an engineer. Growing up with three engineer brothers, Smith's upbringing instilled in her a different way of thinking that is evident in her work today. As an engineer, you begin to view everyday objects such as park equipment and toys in a completely different way. Meet Amjad Syam - Senior Electrical Engineer, Services at Fives Intralogistics Corp. 👋 Amjad joined Fives in October 2022. With a background in industrial automation, he began his career in material handling after completing his master's degree at the University of Kentucky. He worked on distribution and fulfillment projects for five years before coming to Fives to work in the Service department.   His daily responsibilities include leading the execution of one of the company's Service projects in the Parcel and Postal industry. His primary responsibility within the project is to maintain proper execution of the project's deliverables, focusing on the project scope, schedule, and budget.   For Amjad, the services side of the business came with a unique learning curve and presented a new set of challenges. He enjoys learning about new and different customer project environments.   One of the things he finds most interesting about his role is that it has taught him to be more agile in his work. Specifically, it is important to be intimately familiar with the various systems in a customer's facility so any issues can be addressed quickly.   Being part of the team that successfully implemented a proof of concept last year has been the most rewarding aspect of Amjad's job. The implementation's success gave the customer the confidence to execute the entire project.   He advises the next generation seeking a similar career path: "Establish a good network of people through hard and honest work. It is a relatively small industry, and honesty can take you a long way, especially with our customers."   Outside of work, Amjad enjoys exploring nature.
