Our employees are dedicated to animal welfare and demonstrate that commitment by providing legal pro bono services and financial support and volunteering at and serving on the board of animal shelters and sanctuaries. We recently held a Karma volunteer project at Pepper's Senior Dog Sanctuary, a special place that provides a compassionate, lifelong home where elderly dogs are cared for during their good days, bad days and last days.

Award Winning Explainer Videos 🎬 Helping Aussie Organisations Communicate Ideas With Animation | Managing Director at Punchy Digital Media
As a team that values animal welfare, working with Lucy's Project to produce their latest video was not only meaningful, but also eye-opening. Domestic and family violence is a devastating issue that affects millions of people worldwide. However, what many don't realise is that animals are also victims of abuse in these situations. It was shocking to learn that up to 71% of domestic and family violence victim-survivors report that their companion animal had been threatened, harmed, or even killed. Even more concerning, when these survivors decide to leave, up to 93% are turned away from refuges with their animals. This is why Lucy's Project is so important. By raising awareness of the link between animal abuse and human violence, they are advocating for safer families - paws and all. We were proud to work with such a passionate organisation, and we encourage everyone to check out the Lucy's Project website to learn more and support their cause. Let's come together to remove the barriers to safety for victims-survivors with animals, and ensure that no one ever has to choose between their own safety and the safety of their animals. What are your thoughts on this issue? Comment below and join the conversation. #LucysProject #SafeFamiliesPawsAndAll #AnimalWelfare #DomesticViolenceAwareness

You may have heard professionals in animal welfare talk about "The Five Freedoms." These are five principles that the animal welfare community has adopted to ensure animals needing shelter receive appropriate, basic care. Today's featured "Freedom" is the Freedom from Discomfort. From our CEO Donna Casamento: "IndyHumane is aware that part of keeping our animals happy and healthy is addressing their comfort. To this point, our teams have worked hard to find "quieter" places for reactive or shy dogs to live, we are fortunate to have a De-stress area for cats who need time to adjust, and we have a barn cat program because we believe that cats who don't want to live inside are still worthy of life! These Freedoms embody what IndyHumane strives to provide and are at the core of everything that we do as paid and volunteer staff, and as an organization. This is not only due to an amazing group of shelter staff but also due to thousands of hours of volunteer staff time, and from support for the supplies and equipment from our donors."
