Today is Earth Day. For us, IE University Earth Day is an everyday affair. Here at the #IESustainabilityOffice, we often ponder on our legacy. What footprint do we wish to leave behind... The 2024 Sustainability Challenge from the Sustainability Office focuses on WASTE. Managing and reducing waste. In this video, we seek your cooperation in campus-wide recycling efforts. We aim to provide insight into the process of disposing our trash in the recycling bins, and how our waste is sorted and recycled. With everything we throw away, we have got to think about the planet first. So much of what we can throw away can be recycled, reused, or upcycled, and we are bridging the gap making it easier for you to be more environmentally minded. We do the hard work of finding the businesses in your local community that need your "trash." Things like plastics, old batteries, vinyl records, yard waste, etc. So when it comes to recycling, we think there should be an emphasis on transparency, trust, and community building. Responsible Certified IT Recycling There's a silent revolution happening in the IT sector, and it's all about recycling. Federal recycling programs have taken center stage, enabling significant progress in reducing e-waste while promoting sustainability. Through these programs, obsolete IT equipment no longer ends up in landfills but is repurposed, recycled, or safely disposed of. This not only saves valuable resources but also plays a crucial role in preventing harmful substances from polluting our environment.  There's another upside too. Participating in these programs can lead to cost savings for businesses, as they can recoup some value from their old IT equipment.  It's clear that federal recycling programs in IT are a win-win - for our planet and for our economy . Global Recycling Day ♻️ is celebrated annually on March 18th. The day is dedicated to recognizing the importance of recycling in preserving our planet's resources and promoting a sustainable future. The theme for Global Recycling Day 2024 is #RecyclingHeroes. This theme aims to acknowledge the efforts of individuals, communities, and organizations that play a crucial role in making recycling a success.
