CFM news: As you munch on your pancakes today, use the plates they're landing on to start discussing Lent with your Children. Plates of pLENTy is a mostly child-led resource which helps children consider practical ways to respond to Lent. There are 4 empty plates which focus on 4 key themes through Lent: * A plate to Serve others * A plate to Give (to those around you or to God) * A plate to Love the world we live in * A plate to help us think about the way we Live Although there are a few ideas on the plates, each child can think about the response they want to give to this challenge. There is space on the plate to encourage reflection on the action they chose and what they learned/what God revealed to them during that time. They can either pick one plate for the whole of Lent or complete them all during the 40 day period. Download here: https://lnkd.in/eKz39nJV

Talking with kids about the Toothfairy (or Santa, or the Easter Bunny, and more)! Many families build traditions around characters like the Toothfairy. Believing in unseen figures can spark a child’s imagination and create a sense of wonder. And for parents, it’s fun to bake cookies for Santa, hide Easter eggs, and help a child know exactly where to place a tooth under the pillow so the Toothfairy can find it. As kids age, though, the “magic” starts to wear off. Schoolmates may say, “There’s no such thing as a Toothfairy.” So, how do you keep the story alive in your home—particularly for younger siblings? And how do you navigate the conversation if a classmate says to your child, “Only babies believe that stuff.” Share your tips in the comment section below. And check out our latest book! Eppees and the Toothfairy: Autumn’s First Flight.

1 life lesson I'm teaching my kids: 𝗧𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂. But we all know that hands-on lessons mean more than empty words. So over Christmas, I had my daughters roll up their sleeves and put the lesson to work. We went over the their 8-plex and hand-delivered Christmas cards to all their tenants. It was a nice way to: - Emphasize a lesson. - Spread Christmas cheer. - Channel my daughters' creative energy and give Dad a break. Landlords often get a bad rap. And sometimes, that's deserved. Some landlords don't care about their tenants. But the way we see it, our tenants take care of us. So it's up to us to take care of them, too. Christmas cards are a silly example of a bigger picture, but it's a lesson I never want my kids to forget. 𝗧𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂. -- P.S. You've probably heard me talk about this 8-plex before. We're using it to put our kids through college (tax-free). Click here to learn how: https://lnkd.in/gGFirvuJ

The attack on public schools is an attack on equity in our education system. Traditional public school districts in Ohio serve more than 1.8 million students and employ more than 245,000 Ohioans. An investment in our public schools is an investment in our nation’s 50 million public school students. #fundpublicschools #nationalpublicschoolsweek
