Our enrollment team recently went ON THE ROAD to provide Camino Villa families with enrollment assistance, important back-to-school info, free immunizations through the Oklahoma Caring Foundation's Caring Van and a lot of awesome giveaways! A HUGE shoutout to Walmart and MetroMerch Broken Arrow for donating household items and volunteer support and thank you Raising Cane's #131 for donating chicken, refreshments and other goodies! These events would not be possible without the help of our community partners and we are so appreciative of Kinetic by Windstream for providing internet to the building so we could get folks enrolled. Other organizations that were in attendance or assisted include the Broken Arrow Police Department, CARD Head Start & Early Head Start, Broken Arrow Fire Department and Tulsa ER & Hospital. Lastly, thank you to the City of Broken Arrow - Municipality for providing the facility that we used.

Young carers on average missed 23 days of school in 2022-23, compared to 14 days missed by young people who are not young carers. A new report by Carers Trust shows the alarming impact of caring on young carers’ education and opportunities. 🌟 Exciting News! 🌟 Are you passionate about making a difference in your community? Are you looking for ways to support those in need even after the spring semester ends? Look no further! 🍽️ Here at George Mason's Food Insecurity Group, we're dedicated to tackling hunger and food insecurity both on and off-campus. As the semester comes to a close, we're thrilled to announce several opportunities for you to continue supporting our mission and making a positive impact in the lives of others. 🥫 Ways to Donate Food After the Spring Semester Ends: 1. Campus Food Drive: Keep an eye out for campus-wide food drives where you can donate non-perishable food items. Look for collection bins in common areas and residence halls to drop off your donations. 2. Community Partnerships: Explore partnerships with local food banks, shelters, and community organizations. Consider organizing a donation drive or volunteering your time to help distribute food to those in need. 3. Virtual Food Drives: Can't donate physical items? No problem! Consider organizing a virtual food drive where participants can make monetary donations online. Every dollar counts and goes a long way in providing meals for individuals and families facing food insecurity. 4. Educational Events: Host educational events to raise awareness about food insecurity and its impact on our community. Invite guest speakers, organize panel discussions, or screen documentaries to spark meaningful conversations and inspire action. Remember, even small acts of kindness can make a big difference. Together, we can make sure that no one in our community goes hungry. Let's continue to support each other and spread kindness wherever we go. 💙 Stay tuned for more updates and opportunities to get involved with George Mason's Food Insecurity Group. Together, we can create a hunger-free community for all! #FoodInsecurity #CommunityImpact #Volunteerism #DonateFood #GeorgeMasonUniversity #MakingADifference 🌟🍴

I grew up in rural Virginia with family that has been in farming and agriculture for generations. In 2020, I was starting to think about my retirement from the National Guard and doing research for an organization that supports veterans, farmers, and the local community. I wasn’t expecting much, but at the top of my google results was Arcadia Center for Sustainable Food & Agriculture (great job with your #SEO)! It’s not often that you find an organization that aligns to your personal experiences and values in a way that I’ve found with this amazing organization and Pamela Hess. Arcadia's mission is to cultivate vibrant local food systems that prioritize health, equity, and sustainability, from the farm forward. They are delivering on that mission and making an impact here in DC and beyond when their Veteran farmers go back to their local communities across the country. They working to reimagine our food systems so we can meet the needs of our under-resourced communities. This is important work that shapes our #future with #sustainable solutions. I’m sharing this broadly to help them generate the needed funds to support their mission. Every dollar we raise will go toward: 1. growing fresh healthy food for the community (1 million servings plus since 2016!) 2. training military veterans to be farmers (230 from 22 states so far!) helping build little appetites for fruits and veggies (13,500 children have been to Arcadia at farm camp and field trips since 2011!) 3. leapfrogging the barriers low-income families have to access nutritious foods ($2 million worth of food sold and distributed in under-resourced neighborhoods since 2012. Arcadia's Mobile Markets represent less than 1% of all farmers market sales in DC but complete 45% of all food stamp transactions at farmers markets.) Let me know if I can connect you more closely to Arcadia. And please ask me about the amazing annual farm dinner!
On Wednesday, April 24, we are all taking to our computers for an annual online day of giving called Spring2Action (via ACT for Alexandria). Donate here: https://lnkd.in/eEkWbSt We are raising $30,000 to support Arcadia Farm (new fences to keep critters at bay), our new Community Farm opening next month (food sovereignty! entrepreneurship! dinner tables laden with veggies!), Arcadia Farm Camp scholarships, our school & community gardens, our Veteran Farmer Program, and our Mobile Markets. You'll hear more about each of these over the coming days -- but TL;DR? $10 is great (if everyone who gets this gave us $10, we'd blow the lid off!) $1,000 gets you two free seats at our fabulous Fall Harvest Farm Dinner. Any amount in between or above makes it possible for Arcadia to do its important, impactful work: - We grow the supply of fresh healthy food - We train new farmers to produce it - We stoke the appetites of children and families for that fresh, nutritious food - We leapfrog the barriers that people without much money or easy access face to get their hands on it. Arcadia only works because of you: your volunteer labor, your ideas, your cheerleading, and yes ... your donations. Thank you for bringing all of this work to life. Your friends at Arcadia https://lnkd.in/eEkWbSt

Have you encountered a Giving Vending Machine this holiday season? Since 2017, these pop-up Giving Machines have been appearing in cities worldwide. Sponsored by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the machines are currently in 61 locations, a significant increase from 28 last year. Your donation can support initiatives such as clean water, goats, meals, toys, and more for those in need. Contributions go directly to global and local charities that are advertised in the machines. Personally, I appreciate the innovation behind Giving Machines and their ability to quantify your impact beyond a nonprofit's website. However, the continued success and expansion of Giving Machines year over year might raise concerns among fundraisers regarding job security. Could Giving Vending Machines play a beneficial role in shaping the future of philanthropy? Do they complement or potentially detract from the efforts of front-line fundraisers? Please share your thoughts in the comments below! ⬇ #Philanthropy #NonprofitFundraising #GivingMachines

"No one has ever become poor by giving" - Anne Frank At PIMCon I heard many talk about how the relationship between a business and the community is symbiotic. Truly they play a MAJOR role in the success and well-being of each other. Not only if it done correctly will it drive economic growth, but it can also enhance the quality of life for everyone involved. For example: Mike Morse - 🎒 Mike realized there was an overwhelming need for backpacks and supplies for the Detroit Public School students. He took on that mission and as of last year over 300,000 backpacks were donated to Michigan students. 🐶😻 Mike hosts Meet Your Best Friend event, where not only does he host the event two times a year and donates to the Michigan Humane, but he also pays for pets to be shown on local TV and will pay for those featured pets adoption fees! 👨⚖️ Mike has also stepped out of his comfort zone (Personal Injury) into criminal defense to help free Michael Anthony Griffin, a man who had spent over 13 years in prison for a crime he did not commit. David L. Thomas, MBA - 🏍 David and his team believe in boots on the ground with big and small events for their communities. They get in front of their audience with these events, and pull their members into building the community around these charities need/want. When businesses invest in their communities they improve the environment they operate in. In turn, these improvements lead to a better quality of life for their residents. It is about understanding the community's need, supporting the local causes, and contributing to a shared vision. This builds trust, loyalty, and long term relationships. Here is a few of those events & one I participated in with my former STL team. https://lnkd.in/g3gts7mM https://lnkd.in/gRRYi39x https://lnkd.in/gn8M9NPK https://lnkd.in/gRkcAJai https://shpbeds.org/ #Community #AllTogether

Love, love, love this campaign from Lidl 👇🏻 In celebration of World Bee Day, Lidl has put together this brilliant initiative, which helps support pollinators. Here's what they've done: 1. They've launched these new Bee'rs (Free bottles of syrup, which can be put down to help revive exhausted bees). 2. They've donated £10K to the British Bee Charity, to provide learning materials to 500 schools, educating them on the importance of bees and bio-diversity. 3. They've set up a simple landing page, with tips on how you can help bees and other pollinators. A great campaign for a great cause.

This week we're celebrating 40 years of Volunteers' Week! 🤩 Each and every one of our volunteers plays a massive part in what we're able to achieve every single day! Without them, we simply couldn't treat as many poorly pets as we do. From sorting through stock donations and getting them ready to be displayed on the shop floor, to helping our lovely customers find their perfect second-hand pieces, there’s always something fun to do and new skills to learn 👏 Why not give volunteering a go for yourself? http://pdsa.me/U7cA [Visual description: A series of clips of volunteers in various PDSA charity shops. The clips involve them sorting through clothes on the shop floor, sorting through donated books, arranging the shops displays and steaming clothes.] #VolunteersWeek #Volunteer #Volunteers #Volunteering #VolunteerOpportunities #Charity #CharityShop

🌟 Sacramento's Big Day of Giving 2024 is just 2 weeks away but early giving starts today! We're excited to spotlight Meristem and asked Emma, 1st year at Meristem, what she's likes about Meristem: "Community!" We couldn't love her answer more. Meristem is where life long friendships are made and students feel a sense of belonging. For some students, it's the first time they've had that. 💙 Give early, learn more about our program, set up a fundraiser page to help us spread the word about our program or give early by visiting our Big Day of Giving webpage: https://lnkd.in/gYR2D49X 💡 BDOG tip: Give with a Golden 1 Credit Union debit or credit card, and your donations will make an outsized impact, because Golden 1 Credit Union is proportionately matching its members' donations — up to $100,000! 🗓️ Mark your calendars for Meristem's in-person Big Day of Giving garden & nature event. More details to come. #AwakenthePossible #BigDayofGiving2024 #bdog24 #Sacramento #Nonprofit #AutismAwareness #AutismAwarenessMonth #Give #WorkSkills #Transition #LifeSkills #Program

3-Step Guide to Instilling the Joy of Giving in Your Kids 1. Lead by Example: Demonstrate the joy of giving by involving your kids in your own charitable activities. Whether it's volunteering at a local organization or making a donation, children often learn best through observation. 2. Educate and Empathize: Share stories and information about the impact of giving. Help your kids understand the needs of others and how even small acts of kindness can make a significant difference. Foster empathy by discussing various causes and encouraging them to choose a cause they are passionate about. 3. Hands-On Involvement: Make giving a hands-on experience. Organize family volunteer days or projects that allow your kids to actively participate. Whether it's assembling care packages, participating in community clean-ups, or organizing a charity bake sale, involving them directly creates a sense of responsibility and accomplishment.
