Well, since it’s now public knowledge, my time at Dell is ending soon. More details on my next challenge will be coming soon. In the meantime, I have a lot of people to say “thank you” and “so long” to. Who knew that in 9 years, I’d make so many good friends? Here’s a few things I learned in my first 9 years of software and test automation development: - Everything scales, and often quickly. - Code review can be an amazing learning experience if you treat it as one. - Be at least as complimentary as you are critical. - You now is a completely different person than you 6 months ago, or 6 months from now. You won’t remember why, so document it. - Spend the time now to design and document, and it will pay off dividends in the future. - Invest in people more than technology. Tools, languages, and ideas come and go, but people are the constant. Good, motivated people will be the real difference between mediocre and exceptional. - Take the time to mentor. All of us who got to senior level, did so on the shoulders of the people who took the time to listen, empathize, ask, and advise. - Make sure to thank the people who help and inspire you. You never know when they’ll be gone. Onto the next challenge.

It was great hearing from Stef Reid MBE PLY yesterday. I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to Cisco for bringing us inspirational speakers like Stef. She was a fantastic speaker and her zeal is infectious. In addition to the takeaways Fran mentioned, I also loved that Stef talked about the importance of getting "good at failing." Athletes often fail more than they win, and they learn from every setback. This resonates deeply with me as it's crucial to embrace failure as a part of growth. Being a "good loser" isn't about accepting defeat but rather about understanding and leveraging the lessons it brings. Failing forward means we continuously improve, adapt, and ultimately succeed in ways we never imagined. From a learning sciences standpoint, Stef's emphasis on failure as a learning tool resonates with the principle of desirable difficulties, where appropriate challenges during the learning process lead to stronger, more resilient knowledge retention. Creating safe spaces for failure encourages exploration and innovation. In adult education, fostering a growth mindset and allowing learners to experience and learn from failure can lead to profound skill development and retention, as well as learner resilience. After a challenging journey, VMware has finally been acquired by Broadcom. This process has been a true test, both as a colleague and as a dedicated family man. It has required strength, patience, and a constant juggling act between professional commitments and family life. Along the way, tolerance has been short, and optimism has fluctuated like a roller coaster. However, reflection has always been at the forefront, bordering on introspection. What if there is a place for me, but not for my talented colleague? What if...? This journey has not only been for the company but also for me as an individual. The paradox between being a family man and a career-driven individual has been evident, forcing me to question what truly matters. From ISRO to Samsung, and now at Qualcomm 🚀 🤔I always assumed switching jobs would be straightforward.😎 However, it turned out to be much harder than I thought.🤐 👉 At Samsung, I faced a clash between my preparation time🤓 and work responsibilities😥, leading me to believe it was impossible to manage both.☠️ 👉 Transitioning to Qualcomm demanded learning new skills such as advanced algorithms, system architecture, C++, and Python.😣 It was a steep learning curve, with challenges at every stage. 😠 Nowadays different people give different suggestions which might not be specific to your work profile or your experience or your circumstances, same was for me but having a support system of mentors and colleagues helped me regain my confidence and enhance my skills.
