Highly recommend this less than 20 mins podcast from Nature that talks about the stats/data, possible causes, and ongoing studies focusing on understanding why there is an increase in cancer in young adults. "Early onset cancers (occurring in those less than 50 years old) still accounts for only a fraction of the total cases, but the incidence rate has been growing. This rise, coupled with an increase in global population, means the number of deaths from early onset cancers has risen by nearly 28% from 1919-2019 worldwide." "Often early onset cancers affect the digestion system with some of the sharpest increases in colorectal, pancreatic, and stomach cancer." https://lnkd.in/gts-Spw2

While it's difficult to track how many people with cancer do not seek treatment, the National Cancer Data Base (NCDB) conducted a study a few years ago that indicated about 9.2% of patients receive no first course of treatment. This could be for many reasons, including fear or disbelief in traditional or corporate medicine, alternative treatments that stay off the statistics, or they just say “fuck it” and decide to enjoy the time they have left the best they can. But what if you’re diagnosed with cancer and seeing an oncologist just doesn’t fit into your plan? This was Deb Krier. And what do you mean - it didn't fit into her plan? The journey through cancer has taught Deb many lessons, including the importance of delegation in her business, how to assert her autonomy and retain her choice as she goes through treatment, and a long quest through which she has discovered a new meaning and definition for the concept of death. So, how is Deb doing? How did this inspire her to create her venture, Trying Not to Die, which works with cancer patients showing them how to LIVE? Founder-Genefitletics|IEAlumni|Biotech CEO of the Year 2024 (India)|Built Asia’s first & only disease detect platform to early detect metabolic diseases & cancer|Transforming human biochemistry into a big data platform
We all know that cancer has become the biggest epidemic mankind has ever faced with 104 Indians having lost their life to this dreaded disease per hour(2500 /day) in the year 2022. However, this is just the tip of iceberg It is expected that the number of people developing cancer would increase by 57% by the year 2040. This is shocking as we have all technologies & knowledge ecosystem in place to understand the mechanism of cancer & develop preventative solutions! The modern healthcare system is focussing on wrong targets- genetic mutations while the real cause is mitochondrial dysfunction & nuclear genetic mutation is downstream epiphenomenon of damaged respiration/oxidative phosphorylation insufficiency I have been seeing time & again, healthcare practitioners focus on prescribing chemotherapies, immunotherapies & other therapies with a hope to suppress genetic mutations. The success rate is dismal. There are number of reasons: -Reluctant to accept that cancer is a metabolic disease -Genomic Heterogeneity between primary & secondary tumor sites. -Genomic Heterogeneity among different organs -Lack of understanding of role of nutrition to boost the effectiveness of personalized therapies -Failure to understand the molecular mechanisms underlying metastasis -No credible genetic mechanism to explain seed & soil hypothesis & fails to understand how the preferred non-random organs become secondary tumor sites of metastatic cancer cells. Even the DNA testing companies would claim they can detect the risk of cancer by identifying your predisposition to certain cancer. For instance, these companies may tell you have BRCA1 gene & you have risk of breast cancer. But remember genes do not translate into function & underexpression or degradation of BRCA1 is the outcome of mitochondria damage. As such we have seen huge information asymmetry when it comes to understanding the molecular mechanism of cancer. To address this huge gap, we are starting cancer specific podcast wherein we will do a 2-3 minutes video( twice a week) on basic concepts of cancer Just a small initiative to help humanity live better lives : https://lnkd.in/d6RwMr-U Citations https://lnkd.in/guGUG33g https://lnkd.in/dGyCJhrd https://lnkd.in/dtakuXme #cancer #cancerawareness #oralcancer #mitochondriadysfunction #preventcancer #oralhealth #gutmicrobiome #oncology #preventiveoncology Sakshi Bali Shashi Shekhar M. Did you know nearly 40% of Americans will be diagnosed with cancer at some point in their lives? While this statistic from the National Cancer Institute (NCI) may seem staggering, it’s a testament to the incredible complexity of our bodies. Consider this: every cell in our body has DNA that replicates trillions of times daily. Each replication carries the risk of errors, which could lead to cancer. However, Dr. Tiffany Troso-Sandoval, MD reminds us that our bodies are remarkably resilient. Despite the constant potential for errors, most of us remain healthy, thanks to our cells' amazing ability to repair and prevent cancerous growths. 🚨 EPISODE 35 W/ DR. TROSO IS NOW LIVE!
