It’s a new piece of freight rail infrastructure that most of you will probably never visit, but it’s going make life in Sydney a little smoother! The first train has pulled into the next stage of the Moorebank Intermodal, an industrial hub the size of Sydney's CBD that will create thousands of jobs. It will mean more shipping containers can move from Sydney’s south west to Port Botany or around the country – reducing our reliance on trucks for the big journeys. Delivered 12 years after the first concept plan was announced by then-Infrastructure Minister Anthony Albanese. So what does this all mean for you? It’s less trucks on the road, reducing congestion and carbon emissions, it’s more jobs in south western Sydney and it should make getting products around Australia and to your door that little bit cheaper and easier.

❔ What's happening on Spalls Road, Diddillibah? Sunshine Coast Council has built 3 new 'roads of the future' using asphalt made from used Off-The-Road (OTR) tyres. Passenger and truck tyres have been used in Australian roads for decades however, this new trial explores how materials derived from OTR tyres - which are made for tough and demanding conditions - can deliver valuable performance benefits for new roads. The project demonstrates how a ‘circular tyre economy model’ can provide rubber products from regional industry – in this case, OTR tyres from Boral’s quarry operations – to build more resilient local roads and pavements. The sun is shining and we are all smiling at WTE. A CYCLONE 75 Person system being installed down South this week. A 350 person in production with a 750 person to follow. Our CYCLONE Sewage Treatment Plants go upto 5000 Persons. Fluctuations in Use A common problem for sewage treatment plants is fluctuations in use. Sewage treatment plants like to have the same amount of wastewater every day. Many sewage treatment plants cannot function correctly if the usage changes on a daily, weekly or seasonal basis. The most affected units are Activated Sludge systems (sometimes referred to as AS, ASP or Extended Aeration).  This is because the ASP process doesn’t really allow the system to “store” organic material so when there are regular fluctuations is use the system goes through a feast / famine situation and this affects performance. In some systems (such as CYCLONE) the tank is able to store organic material and recycle undigested waste. This enables the tank to “tick over” during periods of under loading. For this reason we usually specify CYCLONE systems for caravan sites, hotels, schools, rental properties, holiday cottages or any other site where the usage can or does change. CYCLONE Half & Half As a general rule, sewage treatment plants require at least 50% loading in order to keep the bacteria in the biozone supplied with sufficient nutrients to sustain them. The design of APEX sewage treatment plants enables then to function at around 25% loading but this is still too high for some sites/applications – caravan sites, visitor attractions, etc. To solve the problem we can offer CYCLONE Half & Half (HH) technology. A CYCLONE with HH technology has the biozone (the treatment part of the tank) split into two; typically 50:50. A series of simple valves allows half of the biozone to be closed off when there is a reduced flow into the system and this reduces the capability of the tank. As a result a CYCLONE with HH technology can operate down to 12.5% of its design loading making it the most flexible system available for sites where the usage fluctuates. #cyclone #sewage #wte #sewagetreatmentplant #architects #builders #installers #merchants #construction #civils #hotels #campsites #largevenue
