National Hispanic Heritage Month, celebrated from September 15 to October 15, honors the rich histories, cultures, and contributions of Hispanic and Latino Americans. This observance began as a week-long celebration in 1968 and was expanded to a month in 1988. The timing is significant as it coincides with the independence anniversaries of several Latin American countries, including Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Mexico, and Chile12. It’s a time to recognize and celebrate the profound impact Hispanic and Latino communities have had on the cultural fabric of the United States. #HispanicHeritageMonth #HispanicHeritage #LatinxHeritageMonth #Latinx #Latina #Latino #MesDeLaHerenciaHispana #CelebrateDiversity #CulturaLatina #OrgulloHispano Text created on Edge Copilot AI.

As we celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, D&A recognizes the incredible contributions of our Hispanic and Latino/a/e friends, neighbors, and colleagues. From advocacy to equity-driven initiatives, we’re committed to lifting up all voices and ensuring that everyone’s story is heard. You might wonder, what’s the difference between Hispanic and Latino/a/e? 🤔 Hispanic refers to individuals with roots in Spanish-speaking countries, emphasizing language. On the other hand, Latino/a/e refers to people from Latin American countries, focusing on geography, regardless of whether they speak Spanish, Portuguese, or Indigenous languages. Both terms celebrate vibrant, diverse cultures that enrich our communities in unique ways. This month, we honor the history, culture, and influence of these communities, who continue to inspire our work toward a more inclusive, just society. #HispanicHeritageMonth #EquityFirst #CelebrateDiversity #InclusionInAction

It's Hispanic Heritage month, so let's break something down real fast. Did you know: The term "Hispanic" describes a person who is from or has ancestors from a Spanish-speaking country or territory. Latino, Latina and Latinx are geographic terms, which refer to a person from Latin America or of Latin American descent. The word "Spanish" refers to both a language and a nationality. A person who speaks Spanish is Hispanic. A person who is from Spain or has family origins in Spain is Spanish. Y eso es bastante educacion para un post! What will you do to celebrate the contributions of this part of our community this month? #negocios #hispanicheritage #communidad

Friendly Reminder: Latin American / Hispanic heritage month starts on Sept 15. Out of courtesy, you should have already booked your speakers/consultants for whatever celebration your organization, company, school, etc. plans to do. If you haven't done so already, get to that this week. And remember not to tokenize! 1. consult with actual members of the community as you plan events and social media posts 2. remember that Latin America is diverse and is comprised of various countries with their own unique cultures. Please don't just center Mexico. 3. Make space for Afro-Latinx members to feel seen and for Portuguese and Indigenous dialects to feel celebrated. Latin Americans come in all colors and don't all speak Spanish. These are just three simple suggestions. Do your research. And if you need a consultant, reach out!

Last year, I made a video about Hispanic Heritage Month for my students, and I thought it might be useful for others too. 🇨🇴🇲🇽🇪🇸🇨🇺🇵🇷 The video explores the contributions of Hispanics and Latinos to culture, history, and society. I’ve used it to introduce the topic in class and start meaningful discussions, and my students really enjoyed it. Here’s some ideas for using it in your classroom: 1. Discussion starter: Use it to introduce Hispanic Heritage Month and talk about why it’s important. 2. Project inspiration: Have students create presentations or projects based on the people and events in the video. 3. Cultural exploration: Tie it into a broader lesson on the customs and traditions of Spanish-speaking countries. If anyone’s looking for resources to celebrate this month, feel free to check it out! 😊 I’d love to hear how others are incorporating Hispanic Heritage Month in their classrooms. https://lnkd.in/g-dKNxHk

🎉Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month🎉 From September 15 to October 15, we honor the rich history, culture, and contributions of the Hispanic and Latino community. With over 60 million Latinos making up nearly 19% of the population, their impact on our nation spans centuries, predating Spain’s colonization. Through the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo and the Treaty of Paris that followed the Mexican American and Spanish-American wars, this community has shaped our nation since the Revolutionary War. 🇨🇷🇸🇻🇬🇹🇭🇳🇳🇮🇲🇽🇨🇱🇧🇿 2020 census data states one in every four children in the United States is Hispanic/Latino and a recent study found that Latino history is largely left out in high school textbooks used across the country. https://lnkd.in/gEXnZmJi We celebrate key Independence Days, and reflect on the deep roots of the Latino experience in shaping America.
