My team and our significant others went out to Hamilton’s. The company picked up the tab. Everybody had great fun. And the kicker was not in seeing the show live. It was meeting the significant other of our colleagues. So this is him … her ... them! LOL! I am a big believer in team bonding. According to BetterUp Labs, 53% of employees don’t look forward to work because of co-workers. And 52% of employees want more connections at work. Going out to Hamilton’s provided an opportunity for our team to look at each other beyond the confines of work. It let us enjoy a performance together, and at the same time, catch a glimpse of something or someone in our colleagues’s lives that made our connections with each other more meaningful. Work is work. But meaningful connections with fellow team members can make work, “un-work”. It can transform work into a means of discovering purpose and significance in what we do together. I think, if teams can do this, if they can build more meaningful connections with each other, we might enjoy our work a whole lot more and perhaps, be even more impactful in what we do together. One week ago I was driving home from the Revenue Operations Alliance Summit and let me tell you how humbling it was connecting with others who struggled with the same things professionally. The last 2 companies I served were small groups striving for growth. A lot of orhanizations that have established and understand the need for RevOps professionals are typically middle and larger sized companies, but they are all struggling to keep up with their insanely fantastic and overwhelming growth. There needs to be a blend, the best of both worlds where you are building a RevOps team WHILE scaling, not as an afterthought. How do you make a business case for something "new" when the rest of your business is still operating like it would have 20+ years ago? 🤔 It's time to face the music. We want MORE as individuals and organizations. You invest in your personal health and needs by eating your greens and saving up in that 401K, but you're not likely as quick to jump into investing in the long term health of your company with the right structure growth plan because dollars are moving now. Last week at the summit we discussed the average tenure of a CRO is 18 months. EIGHTEEN MONTHS! When on average it takes about a year to get ramped and a thorough understanding of the business, industry, and market needs, many expect results and change immediately, but hate the impact to company culture that comes with a massive sudden shake up. RevOps is an investment in your business. A revenue operations team is designed to serve all revenue impacting arms of the organization. What other strategies are you using to connect sales, marketing, and product to establish the unit that truly is your revenue opportunity? Any of these branches can cause total misalignment and derailment in the business if they aren't in sync. It's time to weave better intentions into our organizations. Just like the quilts my grandmother makes for each of her descendants, these works of art remind us that good things take time- but gosh how beautiful are they when they are done! These are intentionally made to be kept for years and are a meaningful reminder of those who are with us along the way.

We delivered our first Amsterdam WALKSHOP 👣 : - 120 minutes - 19 executives (FS) - 3 connection techniques - 2 miles walked in Amstelpark And here is evidence of the transformation that takes place in every.single.session we have run to date: AT THE BEGINNING we asked people how they felt right now. Someone said: “I’m ok. But I all I can think about is our budget deadline. 📈 It’s a crucial time for our finances right now. So my mind is somewhere else really.” AND AT THE END we asked them to share ONE thing of value they took away from the session - here is what someone said: “I take away the power of attention: how important it is to really listen to my peers. Not in a meeting room. Not to win an argument. But to really connect. Did you notice that none of us had their mobile phones out, for the whole session? I just can’t believe how present we where...!” 🎁 So I think the ELT experienced the benefits of human connection.
