Climate change is one of the biggest issues of our time, and we must all do our part to slow its progression. At Douglas Products, our Sulfuryl Fluoride (SF) based products protect property from destruction of wood destroying insects, bed bugs and other public health pests and preserve our global food supply. While SF’s contribution to climate change is small, we are committed to leading the charge for a sustainable future. We pledge to accelerate our work on stewardship technologies and aim to become the industry leader in low-emission fumigation technologies (Climate Smart Fumigation). Our goal is to reduce post-fumigation global SF emissions from our SF-based products by 50% by 2035, with our board taking responsibility for managing this target. I am happy to share that we have taken this bold step. It is a substantial challenge, as there is no 'one-size-fits-all' solution—different applications of SF will require different technology solutions and adaptations. However, Douglas Products is on its way, and we will keep you updated on our progress. Stay tuned! #climate #smart #fumigation #sustainability #innovation #transparency #leadership #vikane #profume #douglasproducts

This is such exciting news and I am delighted to be a part of this with Andrew Klein Heather Kern Klaus Kunz and the good people at Douglas Products “Climate change is one of the biggest issues of our time, and we must all do our part to slow its progression. Douglas has NOT made any profit (from its introduction to today) from the creation of ProFume which contains Sulfuryl Flouride. This will turn the food safety industry upside down, as ProFume is the most successful fumigant. Nearly everything you consume along the chain of custody & farm to fork will be impacted by this. The chemical makeup of this fumigant ensures all products, food and ingredients are safe from pests. Oxygen depletion formulations are in the works, but will not be as successful (in my option). Methyl Bromide is/was the best fumigant to control the target pests. However, the EPA banned the product for export only. I can foresee Douglas taking a financial hit with this as well partners such as Vasaris and Cardinal who retail Douglas Professional Products. Along with this massive change to the fumigation industry, all prices of fumigated commodity WILL increase- and damaging the financials regarding Douglas by FDA and USDA and lab testing, also label creation and legal matters. To reduce this “carbon imprint” caused by these fumigants, large balls or balloons of oxygen have been under trial to reduce the usage of fumigant pounds and dosage based on the cubic footage; with negative results, however. Unfortunately the best solution is to remain consistent in current fumigant products, but focus on hourly readings and ProFume Fumiguide rates per insect- based on commodity, heat, and fumigation worthy structures. It’s a mathematical formula accompanied by visual analysis and inspection which will likely alter exposure time and rates, resulting in addgas. I love being so knowledgeable in this unknown field as everything you consume eventually recieves some form of fogging or fumigation. The key purpose is government compliance to ensure food safety for you, and reduction in invasive species during the import and export process. I have nearly 50 years of combined institutional knowledge regarding this niche industry in all forms. Although I’m a PR and Corporate Communications major, I know more about this industry and the history than lifetime fumigators or sales reps. I take great pride in this field and industry, also my mentor who has completed the most rigours jobs in the country. This is where my knowledge is at. Most people can perform a fumigation but not properly or per federal label, including hazmat restrictions and licensure. Fumipurges are vacuum assisted devices with small motors used to sample PPM fumigant levels while maintaining a central command center, however there are other methods to ensure success. Flat storage, silos, bins, production factories, tarp jobs, reefers/rail- everything that stores product or commodity will eventually be impacted by this decision. I’m so very blessed for my expertise and problem-solving skills in this industry. I absolutely love everything that goes into it. I truly have had my hands in everything. Even supporting one of the largest fumigation branches administratively in the country.

Levels of a potent greenhouse gas are quietly spiking in the atmosphere and increasingly worrying environmental groups that say its use needs to be reined in if the US is to avoid climate catastrophe.

Today, drylands cover more than 46% of the global land area where three billion people live. Nearly 30% of humans today have no indoor drinking water. The risk of desertification is growing. Farmland is under threat. Adaptation to climate change is the priority with climate change mitigation taking a back step. #agriculture #dryfarming #climatechange

Over the past few months, I have given several interviews and talks regarding smallholders and EUDR compliance. The common narrative is that compliance is difficult for smallholders and is portrayed as a risk. However, from our perspective, we see it as an opportunity. The fact is that many smallholders are already operating low-emission farms, especially those not on peat or recently cleared from forests, which are subject to the EUDR cutoff. As a mill, lowering your GHG footprint is possible by having more smallholders in your supply base. 📔 Presentation to UK and German palm oil stakeholders - https://lnkd.in/gWe_qyVg Let's shift the narrative and see the opportunities that smallholders can bring to the table. By working together, we can make a real impact on climate change. #Smallholders #ClimateChange #EUDRCompliance #Sustainability With WAGS we already have a program to onboard, report, and ensure traceability information is collected and verified. This will enable us to introduce programs like WAGS BIO and other ways to drive on-farm improvements to enhance biodiversity in soils and on the land. Smallholders can play an integral role in climate mitigation strategies. It's not just about complying with EUDR regulations.

New Pollution Rules Aim to Lift Sales of Electric Trucks. The Biden administration on Friday announced a regulation designed to turbocharge sales of electric or other zero-emission heavy vehicles, from school buses to cement mixers, as part of its multifront attack on global warming. The Environmental Protection Agency projects the new rule could mean that 25 percent of new long-haul trucks, the heaviest on the road, and 40 percent of medium-size trucks, like box trucks and landscaping vehicles, could be nonpolluting by 2032. Today, fewer than 2... https://lnkd.in/d-5Z_JKF
