Developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH) is a congenital disorder in which the etiology, risk factors and life course are not fully understood. Our multidisciplinary HIPS research group in Norway aims to contribute to a better understanding of the complex mechanisms involved. We are excited to share our latest findings from the large, longitudinal population-based hip cohort, newly published in Pediatrics. Associations between the newborn hip acetabular shape as seen on ultrasound and the adult acetabular shape as seen on x-rays are incompletely understood. We revealed significant associations in females, which might indicate different mechanisms affecting the course of DDH for females and males. Our findings also revealed an association between adult joint hypermobility and DDH, warranting further investigation. Trude Gundersen Kaya Kvarme Jacobsen Karen Rosendahl Hanne Rasmussen

One of the strengths of our research group and our unique hip dysplasia cohort is the ability to publish long term radiological follow up such as this paper looking at the relationship between radiological findings at birth compared to adulthood. We are looking forward to gather more insights into hip dysplasia as we continue to follow this cohort! In the mean time, check out Lene Bjerke Laborie's paper:

🌟 Exciting News! 🌟 I'm thrilled to share that our latest paper, "The Incidence of Retinopathy of Prematurity in Neonates in Germany in 2019; A Nationwide Epidemiological Cohort Study," has been published in the European Journal of Pediatrics! 🔍 This study marks a crucial step in understanding the landscape of Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) in Germany, providing invaluable insights for pediatric and ophthalmologic care. 👶 Our research focused on the nationwide incidence of ROP in neonates in 2019. Through a detailed, comprehensive analysis, we've uncovered new data that will significantly impact how we approach neonatal eye health. 🤝 A heartfelt thanks to my co-authors and the entire research team for their dedication and hard work. Collaborating with such a talented group has been both enlightening and inspiring. @melih parlak Eman Samir Abdelmaksoud, Omneya Hassanain, Armin Wolf 📚 I invite my colleagues, fellow researchers, and anyone interested in pediatric ophthalmology to read our findings. I'm eager to hear your thoughts and engage in discussions that could pave the way for future research and improved patient care. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/d--4_y48 #retinopathy #prematurity #childrenshealth #kindergesundheit #augenheilkunde #rop #neonatalcare #neonatologie #Ophthalmology #PediatricCare #RetinopathyOfPrematurity #neonatalcare
