🌟 𝐄𝐱𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐍𝐞𝐰𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐄𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 & 𝐀𝐈 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧! 🌟 Can AI develop a strategy to promote women in the energy sector? The answer is a resounding "🆈🅴🆂!" We applied Perplexity.ai to craft a gender equality strategy for the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA). Our approach? A mix of methods consisting of literature research, survey data, AI prompting, and expert feedback. The result? A comprehensive policy paper aimed at increasing female representation in the European energy sector, addressing companies, policymakers, and educational institutions. 🚀 Check out our findings here: https://lnkd.in/eq_4Aheu Why was integrating AI so effective? Self-critically, many equality strategies are quite generic and often not data-driven. AI, it appears, can adeptly simulate a typical gender equality strategy. However, it's crucial to highlight what AI cannot do and why the role of diversity managers, equality officers, and HR managers remains indispensable: - AI cannot collect data for monitoring equality or to conduct problem analysis. - AI cannot rethink a strategy based on practical insights and experience of inhouse political dynamics. - AI cannot advocate for gender equality through numerous conversations or ethically reflect on goals (as discussed in our policy paper's preface). Let's discuss how AI can further transform our approach to gender equality in professional settings! 💡 #GenderEquality #AIIntegration #EnergySector #EuropeanPolicy Fraunhofer IAO Simone Kaiser Nathalie Voigt Kareen Klug

Empowering Equality: AI's Role in Bridging the Gender Gap “Achieving gender parity worldwide will take around 134 years” according to the World Economic Forum’s Global Gender Gap Report 2024. This stark statistic highlights the urgent need for innovative solutions to bridge the gender gap, particularly in technology and AI. Progress has been slow for women across the tech industry. Although women make up 42% of the global workforce and fill an estimated 40% of high-skill jobs globally, many challenges remain. · Women hold 50% of entry-level positions but only 25% of top positions. · Additionally, 50% of women in tech roles leave them by the age of 35, · 32% of women in technical and engineering roles are often the only woman in the room at work. The number of women in STEM jobs has been steadily growing since 2016, but they still only make up 28.2% of the workforce. The report notes a steep "drop to the top" in this sector, with C-suite positions harder to access than in non-STEM occupations. Despite these barriers, LinkedIn data shows that women have a 28% larger share than men of essential soft skills for jobs of the future, including strategic leadership and collaboration. This growing pool of female AI talent, coupled with the advent of GenAI, presents an opportunity to help close the gender gap. How can AI overcome gender bias? The first step is ensuring training samples are diverse in terms of gender, ethnicity, age, sexuality, and other factors. Additionally, the people developing AI should come from varied backgrounds. Removing gender bias in AI starts with prioritizing gender equality as a goal during the conceptualization and building of AI systems. This includes assessing data for misrepresentation, ensuring diverse gender and racial experiences are represented, and creating more inclusive development teams. More and more, AI is shaping the world we live in—our job prospects, healthcare outcomes, access to benefits and services. Women are making significant gains in AI talent as technology becomes increasingly vital to business transformation. "AI can be a game-changer for the SDGs, but transforming its potential into reality requires AI that reduces bias, misinformation, and security threats instead of aggravating them. We need global coordination to build safe and inclusive AI that is accessible to all." António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations. To prevent gender bias in AI, we must first address gender bias in our society. Technology can act as the great connector, and everyone has a role to play. · Investing in policies to help women return to the workplace. · Aiming for the snowball effect, and understanding what motivates women are crucial steps. Unless we learn how to harness AI’s potential to bridge inequalities and prevent discrimination, AI can and will become a force that entrenches, perpetuates, and amplifies inequality.

AI & Gender Equality: A Game-Changer or a Risk? AI is transforming how we work, live, and interact—but can it also rewrite the narrative around gender equality? At its best, AI has the potential to break down barriers. Imagine a world where hiring is unbiased, where AI highlights pay gaps, and where opportunities for women in STEM become more accessible than ever. A future where merit takes center stage. But here’s the catch: AI isn’t inherently neutral. It learns from us, from the data we feed it—and much of that data is rooted in a history of inequality. In fact, some studies show AI systems unintentionally favor male candidates or promote fewer job ads to women in tech roles. If we're not careful, we risk automating bias instead of eliminating it. So, are we building a future where AI amplifies old inequalities, or one where it becomes a powerful force for progress? This is where representation comes in. More women in AI development means creating systems that reflect diverse perspectives. We need to challenge the status quo in tech and ensure that the future we’re designing is fair and inclusive by design. The opportunity is immense, but we must be intentional. How do we train AI to recognize bias? How do we ensure diverse voices are leading the AI conversation? Can AI become the tool that truly levels the playing field? AI can help us reimagine gender equality, but only if we actively shape it for the better. What’s your take? How can we ensure AI drives equality instead of reinforcing bias? #AIandGender #AIforEquality #WomenInAI #InclusiveAI #DiversityInTech #TechForGood #AIethics #STEMForAll #BiasInAI #GenderEquality #FutureOfWork #UnbiasedTech #EqualOpportunities #TechForChange #RepresentationMatters #EmpowerWomen #WomenInSTEM #EthicalTech

Happy International Women's Day! Much progress has been made, but there is still a long way to go. According to the UN, women make up only 34% of the science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) workforce, and men vastly outnumber women who major in most STEM fields at university. Gender gaps are especially high in some of the fastest-growing and highest-paying jobs of the future, such as computer science and engineering. Within Wolftank Group, which operates mainly in traditionally male-dominated sectors, our commitment to gender equality is demonstrated through concrete actions and explicit policies. These include pay based on position and performance (no gender), flexible working hours or remote working. Did you know that over the past decade, female geologists, engineers and biologists have become the backbone of our international workforce? We firmly believe that diversity plays an integral role in driving innovation and success. Through our ongoing efforts and actions, we aim to challenge the status-quo, both within our industry and beyond. #internationalwomensday2024 #iwd2024 #inspireinclusion #Energizingthefuture
